Darren my best friend from when I was six to ten years old. We were neighborhood friends for the longest time. Until he moved away shortly after because his dad got a new job for this huge company, and they couldn't resist taking the offer. I honestly didn't care when he moved because at the time when your six you have lots of friends so your practically friends with everyone on the planet, so I didn't know what it was like to lose one when he moved because I had so many more. After I started getting older, I realized that friends move and drift away like money does if your hand loses its grip on a windy day. That's why loosing friends is so hard, you want to keep them in your reach and stuff them in your pocket, but sometimes they just fly away.
Darren stares at me for a while, I mean I wouldn't blame him I have changed quite a lot but not to the point where you can't recognize me. "Myra, is that you?" He says, I look over and pretend like I don't know him, "It's Darren remembers?" I scrunch up my face in utter shock as I make my way over to him. "Hey, it's been forever!" I say, he smiles, oh and boy do I miss that smile. "You've changed" he says in his deep accented voice. "Well, you know I got older." I smile, not knowing what to say, I haven't seen the guy in years what do you expect?
Then I hear a voice from over my shoulder, "Sorry to interrupt but who are you?" Which I can already tell is Mason by his footsteps walking up behind me. Darren sticks his hand out for a handshake, but Mason completely ignores it. "Hey, I'm Darren, me and Myra were friends from a while ago." Mason nods his head as he clenches his jaw. What has gotten into him?
"Well, it was nice meeting you," Mason says as he walks away. "Where are you going." I say turning my attention from Darren to Mason.
Mason looks at me as his smile turns into a mad grin, "Maybe you should hang out with him, looks like your happy to see him."
And with that Mason walks away telling Ethan he wants to leave. They both get up off the bench and say they'll take the bus home, but my brother insists on taking them back with us. "C'mon Myra let's go." Asher says looking at me. "Why we practically just got here." He smiles and laughs, "Oh so now that Darren shows up you want to stay all of a sudden." I look at him with my eyes glazing over, "No, I just haven't seen him in a while." I say looking over at Darren to see an amused expression on his face. "Get in the car now Myra." I grumble as I walk over to the car. "Looks like someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed." I say as Asher swings his head in my direction from glaring at Darren. "No, I didn't wake up on the wrong side of the bed, you woke up on the wrong side of the universe." he says as he walks over to the driver seat.

Mason and Ethan are already in the car as I take one last look at Darren.
He walks up to me with his phone in his hand. "Can I get your number, so next time we talk it's not interrupted. "Sure," I say as we exchange phone numbers. Problem is he has to write his on paper because I don't have my phone. So, I walk back into the ice cream shop and ask for a pen and napkin as he grabs them out of my hand to write his number down.
We say our goodbyes and I hop in the car ignoring everyone as we make the long drive back home.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We dropped Mason and Ethan back home and right when they got out of the car Asher started explaining on how I was so disrespectful. He also kept saying "Did you see the look on Mason's face!?" And he wouldn't stop, it was like he found a new obsession with him. So now I'm up in my room itching to pick up a book but I can't lose what I've already done, I've made so much progress that I can't go back now. I kind of like the new me, it tells people not to mess around with me and play me for a fool.
When I get my phone back which shall hopefully be soon, I will add Darren's number and start reaching out to friends.
I want to do a few more things before school on Monday. I start with taking off all the pins and quote stickers off my backpack and textbooks as well as spray some of my new perfume in my bag because it stinks like paper. Then on Monday my goal will be to clean out my locker because I need to get rid of some things. So, the rest of my evening is spent cleaning the old and bringing in the new.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Myra, time for dinner!" My dad yells from downstairs. "Coming!" I yell back at him. I am going to try and be extra nice so maybe he'll give me my phone back. I run down the stairs with a smile on my face as I make my way to the table. "Hey," I say as I take my seat. My brother looks at me with confusion spread across his face. "I swear your moods today are off the charts." He rolls his eyes looking back down at his food, "I can second that." My dad pipes in as my mom laughs. We start eating and after we've had a few conversations I decide to bring up my phone situation. "Hey so... what about my phone?" My dad looks at me and says, "You're not getting that for a week." I cross my arms over my chest, "Why" He laughs at me, "Do you remember what went down this morning?" I nod my head, "Then you shouldn't be asking that question." He says with a smile on his face.
At least he's not throwing me across the room.
"Fine whatever." I say as I stand up from the table with my dish in my hands and put it in the sink. "Where are you going?" My mom says from where she's sitting at the table. "In my room, I say as I walk up the stairs.
I need to get my phone and I need to get it now.
