Masons POV:
As I lay on my bed, I think about her. Her features, her hair, her smile, her laugh. I can't stop. It pained me to see her with him today, it pains me to see her change like this. I've tried to put her back together like the puzzles I've done in the past, but she just keeps falling apart. I wipe the tear that escaped my eye as I collect myself. What does she see in him? What does she want from him? Why can't it be like that with me? I throw my phone across the room, and it lands on the soft carpeted floors. I shouldn't be crying over her if she doesn't want me. I just can't let her throw her life away like this. To a guy like him. To a group of those stuck-up idiots. I can't let it happen and I need to prevent it. She can't become like them. She can't.
I wipe up the last of my tears as I hear a knock on the door. "Come in," I croak out. I see the door start too slightly open as I swipe at my face a few more times. I see a head pop in from the door frame. "Hey bro, you, okay?" Ethan says from across the room. I look at him, "Ya, I'm ok." He looks at me with disbelief. "No, you're not," I look up from my fingers, "Yes I am." I grit out. "Really than what was that bang I heard?" I get up, "It was nothing..."
"Why are you lying to me?" I walk over to him. "It. Was. Nothing. Stop. Asking!" I yell out looking at Ethans face of shock. "It's about her, isn't it?" I cock my head towards him, "Who?" I speak. Ethan throws his head back in laughter, "Myra." He says as he clicks his tongue at the end of her name. "No. And don't say her name." I say as I grab my phone and walk towards my door. "Move." I grunt out, "And why should I?" Ethan snaps back at me. "Just. Move!" I yell out all my anger coming out of those two words. "Fine." He says defeated as he moves out of my way, and I run out of my room, down the stairs, and out the door.

I slam the door behind me and run down the front porch steps onto the driveway. I drop down to the concrete and tie my laces, I make sure and tie them extra tight. When dad was here, he used to say let all your emotion flow into the laces. Let out the anger, hatred, grief that you feel and put it all into the string knot. That's what I've done since I can remember. Think about everything and everyone I hate and tie them into the shoelace so I can move on. I think that's why he was such a chill guy. Always calm never raised his voice, was polite and never let anger get the best of him, until...
Tears blur my vision as the thought catches up to me, but I tie the last knot extra tight and stand up with extra force in my step as I walk along the sidewalk.

Kicking rocks like the baby I am, I find myself on her street. It's like an unforgettable route, a pull that takes me here. It's not like I can control it, I haven't even lifted my head in the last ten minutes and I'm here. I turn around, I can't just knock on her door, I can't. That would be weird and uncalled for. Maybe I can ask for Asher... and come up with an excuse. This is what my mind is spiraling through as I look at the house, the door, her window. I want to be inside that house, I want to walk in that door with no questions asked. Before I know it, I'm at the door with my knuckles against it giving a few light knocks.
I hear footsteps from the inside as they come closer, I clench and unclench my fists as they get sweaty. Then the door opens. "Mason! It's so nice to see you come in!" Mrs. Tanelle says from the doorway. I give her a sheepish smile as I sidestep inside. "What brings you here sweety?" I click my tongue. "Umm just thought I'd swing by to say hello... and I have to talk to Asher." She smiles, "Well thank you and Asher is just in the kitchen. Why don't I get you a drink and you two can talk there." I take a few steps toward her, "Thank you." She turns around and gives me a warm smile. "No problem, feel free to stop by at any time!" She says as she leads me to the kitchen.
"Don't mind the mess we just finished dinner." Mrs. Tanelle says to me. "Don't worry about it." I smile, "Hey, Mason what are you doing here? Is everything okay?" Asher says from his seat. I walk over to him and take a seat across from him. "Ya, everything's fine I just wanted to talk to you..." He scrunches his nose in confusion, "About what?" He says taking a sip of his water as his mom places a cup in front of me, "Well I'll leave you boys now, if you need me, I'll be in the living room." She takes a pause and turns to me. "Mason, would like me to tell Myra your here?" My eyes bulge, "No! no... that's okay...really." Oh, that was horrible. Stupid Mason. "Oh, alright...you boys have fun." That's the last thing she says before she leaves the kitchen and walks into the hallway.
"So..." I start.
"Why are you here Mason, you never come alone. Unless Ethan is hiding somewhere and is ready to pop out at me."
"No. No, he's not." I say as I blow a puff of air from my mouth.
"Well first of all I don't like the idea of you walking out on the streets all alone especially at this hour." He says sternly. "Second of all, you know if there's anything you can talk to me."
I slouch in my chair. "I know."
"So..." He starts. "What's up?"
"Does Ethan talk about me?" I pause. "At all?"
He laughs, "You're the only thing he does talk about."
"Good or bad?"
"Good." "Really good."
I smile at the thought of him, my older brother not talking shit about me for once.
"What about Myra?" I blurt out and instantly regret it.
He smiles, a weird suggestive smile.
"Why."
"I don't know."
He clicks his tongue before he smiles.
And burst out in laughter.
"What!?" I whisper-shout.
"I knew it."
"Knew what?"
"Nothing."
I roll my eyes, "Anyways nice chat."
"No." he gasps. "Wait."
He places himself back in his chair, "Why'd you ask is everything okay with them?"
"Uhm..."
