The wind whipped through my hair as I stood on the edge of a huge cliff, the mountains in the distance jutted into the sky and pierced the clouds. The ocean was stretching out just past the mountains, the water shimmering from the afternoon sun. I set down my backpack and began unzipping one of the pockets, a small Polaroid camera peered through the pocket as I picked it up. I propped up the camera against my pack and clicked the button, quickly I took a pose on the cliff with the ocean and mountains behind me. After the shutter clicked I sat down by my bag and watched as the wind tickled the tops of the trees and listened to the birds flying by with their musical chirps. Suddenly a large blue flame shot up from about a mile away, sitting up in panic I ran to the edge to get a closer look. As I was scanning the forest another wave off blue fire launched outwards, noticing the flames on a direct course in my direction I grabbed my back pack and ducked behind a tree. I quickly reached into my pocket pulling out a 20-sided die, I rolled it in my hand just as the flames burning heat reached me. I let go of the dice in pain as it rolled onto the ground, revealing the number 15 I rolled. I felt my clothes catch on fire and I screamed in pain, the flames licked at my neck and down to my legs. My legs went numb before my knees hit the ground, I clenched at my burning clothes, black started to fill my vision, my head fell to the ground as the smell of burning grass. The dice I rolled was just in front of my blurry vision, I reached out and grabbed the die, making sure it was tight in my grasp before passing out.

My body jolted awake in a panic, my hands grabbing the scar on my neck as I finally got my breathing to calm down. My head turned to look around the hospital room I was in, I was laying on two chairs pushed together with a small pillow and ultra-thin blanket covering me. I sat up and noticed as my mom later in the hospital bed, her nose had a tube running out of it and connecting to a breathing machine, I roughly wiped my eyes of the tears forming. Standing up I stumbled over to her, my lips quivered as I saw the liquids they had to pump her with, needles rested on her arms and were held in place with some tape. "I'm so sorry, mom..." I whispered as my head fell onto the sheets, I bit my lip trying not to cry too loud. The tears were salty as they coated my lips and cheeks, I raised my head and began walking to the door. My thoughts were gone as I watched people pass by in the hallway, I reached the stairs and began to climb them until I couldn't anymore. Looking up I saw a large door that invited me to open it, a strange calmness fell on top of me as I slowly opened it. The night sky was filled with stars, bright ones and dull alike, making up constellations and seemingly dancing. Walking forward I craned my neck upwards, I was in a trance from the beautiful sight. My body slowly melted to the ground as I didn't take my eyes off the sky. The cold concrete roof top seeped into my spine and spread to every inch of me, I sat up and took a deep breath, bringing my knees up to my chest I wrapped my arms around my legs and tucked my head down resting my forehead on my knees. The sound of the door a couple yards behind me echoed into the starry sky, footsteps followed suit, but I didn't want to move, maybe it was part of my imagination. A heavy hand fell on my shoulder and I lifted my head slightly, it was too dark to see the features but I knew a man was behind me. "Hey are you alright? You weren't in your room when I came to check on you." His voice was raspy and tired, "Yeah, I'm fine. Did you need me for something?" My voice cut through the air, making the man flinch at my harsh tone. His hand lifted from my shoulder as he slumped to the ground next to me, "I know you didn't start that fire on purpose, but the authorities are thinking otherwise." My eyes snapped close for a second before opening and looking him in the eyes, "For all you know I could have started it, why do you believe I wasn't the cause when you don't even know who I am?" I said raising my voice near the end. I was finally able to see some of his features; he had a strong jaw but had soft and slightly plump cheeks with medium cheekbones. His eyes were beautiful to you, they were rose red but filled with empathy and determination. I stood up and began walking towards the edge of the building, I heard the man's footsteps speed up to catch up to me, his hand trapped my arm and held it tightly but made sure he didn't hurt me. "It's fine, I'm just sitting down." I sat down and twirled my legs so they dangled over the edge, a slight breeze swirled my hair around and made my cheeks slightly redden. His grip loosened before he joined me on the edge, a couple of minutes passed before the man spoke up, "Do you... do you remember me?"

A minute passed before I turned to him my eyes still wide with confusion, "We used to be best friends until you got attacked in the woods, we weren't in the same class but you were so determined to hang out with me that you hiked to where my class was training, but we got attacked and you..." he sighed before continuing, "Authorities checked the area and they found you passed out with terrible burn marks, for some reason you weren't incinerated from the villains flames neither were your belongings. But after the incident you were in a coma for close to two years and when you woke up you had no idea who you were, where you were, or how to walk." His voice choked up but you could tell he was struggling with your sudden reappearance, you sat there as he looked down. "I got captured but after I was rescued the class told me everything, I was so infuriated..." his tone struck me, I looked at him and saw he was genuine. "I have a question: were we close friends?" I turned to him trying to sound emotionless, "heh- we were friends and enemies at the same time; we got into a fight and had to be separated. It was all in good fun though." He said with a slight smile it quickly disappeared and was replaced with a smirk as he added "I could have killed you in a second if I wanted too." I felt the corners of my mouth slowly turn up in a small smile, he had this energy around him that was both destructive but peaceful, he didn't feel like a dangerous person but I knew I should still be skeptical. "So, how long were we friends before- you know-" I trailed off on the last part on purpose, "About 6 years. We met in elementary school in third grade, I remember you were telling me how you always won board games and of course I didn't believe you, but when you would invite me over for Sunday night gaming I would always leave feeling like I could beat the shit out of you cause of how cocky you were." He smiled and kept talking, "A few years later and we had gotten closer we used to always practice hand-to-hand combat on each other, we improved at the same time that either of us would rarely win a match. I even beat up some guy who broke your heart in seventh grade." I heard the smirk in his tone at the last part, I smiled and leaned my head backwards to look at the sky again. Just as I was scanning the sky a shooting star zipped through the sky, my eyes almost didn't catch it, I closed my eyes and thought to myself; I wish I could remember everything that happened. Suddenly he got up and started stretching but before he could leave I asked him one more question; "What should I call you?" He stopped stretching and smirked, "Call me Katsuki Bakugo!" I smiled and stood up as well, "Y/N you should probably get back to your room, it's way too late to be staying up." He smiled and hesitantly patted my head before walking back to the door, I stood still as I processed everything that happened.
