"honey! look what came in!" mom held an envelope with the words Rose University printed on the sticker. my heart almost stopped-- what if I get accepted? I wiped my hands quickly on my shirt and took the envelope. deep breaths, y/n.

TO THE PARENTS/GAURDIANS OF Y/N L/N.
Hello. This is a letter from the head office here to inform you that y/n will be attending Rose University in the fall. A list of supplies and items needed will be provided below.
I stare at the words for a second. did I read that right? rereading the words over and over again until it sank in. I look at my mom who is standing on the other side of the table.
"I'm so proud if you, y/n!" mom says, hugging me.
"w-what about you? the house?" I ask, still holding the acceptance letter.
"don't worry about it, it's not like we're that far anyway." mom says.
I skim through the supplies list, checking off things I already have.
"Dorm necessities? I get to stay in a dorm?!" I was so excited about it! I saw it in tv shows, how life with friends in a dorm was so fun all the time.
and that's how my new life began.
