Ever wanted to play hide and seek but you're alone and have no friends? Well, it's time you stop looking. You're in the right place! It doesn't matter if you're an only child, live alone, or generally have no one to play with - following these quick and easy steps will guarantee you a friend to play hide and seek with.
Step Number One:
Choose a nice, empty house. The bigger, the better, because we need a house with lots of hiding places.
Step Number Two:
Make sure it's at night. This step isn't optional. Your friends wont come out in the light. You need to make sure there isn't a single ray of light in that house of yours! Ideally, you should wait till 12 am. Everything's darker after 12 am.
Step Number Three:
Close all the doors in the house. This includes the closet doors, cabinet doors, drawers, anything really.
Step Number Four:
Things are getting good now! You have a location and your house is ready to be used. If you're absolutely sure that everything is ready and there's no light in the house, head on to your living room. Grab a big candle and set it in the middle of the room - preferably on a table, but it's fine if it's on the floor too. Light this candle and sit opposite to it, and make sure some matches stay in your hands at all times.
Step Number Five:
Tie something over your eyes. Your friend is a little shy, they might not want to appear if they know you are watching them. Don't worry, they will definitely make themselves known.
Step Number Six:
Count slowly till 10. Then, take a deep breath and say these words;
The night is bleak
Shadows, come forth
It's time to play
Hide and seek
Count till 10 again, and it is time.
How To Play:
You are now in game!
Keep your blindfold on until you can feel a hand touch your shoulder. Do not jump or startle, that will scare your friend away. Once you feel the hand on your shoulder, it is safe to remove the blindfold and find a place to hide. You will have 60 seconds.
Choose somewhere to hide. It is imperative that you leave the door to where you are hiding open.
You might hear giggling once your 60 seconds is up. That's normal, it's your friend having fun. Try to keep quiet when you hear the giggling, otherwise they will find you immediately, and well, what's the fun in that?
You will feel a cold hand on your shoulder when you are found. Once found, you should head back to the living room, closing the doors behind you. Now you will count to 60 and wait for your friend to hide.
Don't worry! They will make it easy for you to find them. When you do find them, yell 'found you!' clearly and return to the living room, closing all the doors as you go.
That's all! You can now play as many rounds as you like.
To end the game, yell out loudly and clearly. 'The game is over. Return home.' Once the game has ended, the candle will blow out itself.
RULES:
Do not leave open any random doors. It will confuse your friend and you. Yelling 'found you' incorrectly will lead to undesirable results.
Do not close all the doors as you hide. Your friend will still be able to find you, and then when it is your turn to seek, it will be impossible to find them.
Do not attempt to see through your blindfold. There is a reason your friend doesn't want to be seen.
Do not attempt to start the game until you feel the hand on your shoulder. If you do not feel it after 60 seconds, repeat the chant.
Only repeat the chant up to three times. If it still does not work, end the game and do not try playing for up-to 24 hours.
Do not attempt to blow out the candle. It should stay lit throughout the game, only going out after you end the game.
If the candle goes out, you have 60 seconds to relight it again. If you fail to relight it, your friend can swap places with you. And you do not want to go where your friend lives.
If at any point in the game, the matches leave your hand, retreat to the living room and end the game. Wait for the candle to go out. If you return to the living room and the candle is already out, I am sorry. Your fate has been decided.
End the game before the sun comes up. If you are still playing when it does, your friend might get scared and blow out the candle before you end the game, and you will not be able to relight it.
If you end the game and the candle does not go out, do not attempt to blow it out yourself. Keep ending the game until it goes out itself.
And please, for the love of god, don't cheat. If you offend your friend, they will get very, very angry. No one can help you if they do.
