Leonidas' POV

A week passed, so far it's been filled with nothing but pure boredom as we went through routine patrols, checks, reports, and more. I occasionally snuck off world with Cyrus to visit the Dark Angels fleet in the system to seek updates regarding Fulgrim's location but nothing had come up. As much as I would like to pursue action, I knew that hunting down a Daemon Primarch required immense patience and that given enough time, they will come to you, you just had to wait.

Cyrus was not happy with our current situation, having to associate with so many humans that he hated so much, every day, all day. For me, I didn't mind as much because I spent most of my time with Sabine Wren. She is one of the few humans who I enjoyed having as company.

Sunday came and went, and it was time for me to sleep. I climbed into my bed in my tent, shut my eyes, and soon was resolutely asleep.

I began to dream. I dreamt of the time when I served under my father as Captain of the Lion Guard, his personal honor guard. I led the forces of the first company, the Deathwing, into combat under his name. On that fateful day when the Fallen Angels of Caliban betrayed our legion and fired upon us. I was at the frontlines, leading my men into battle to destroy the traitors alongside our best warriors, slaying any in our path. The ground trembled as my father clashed with Luther, my uncle. Their blades rang out and shook the planet to its core. For one solar week, the forces of the Dark Angels fought tirelessly against the Fallen and we had won. Or at least I had thought so.

On the last day, we had managed to repel the enemy and force them into their last fortress. I rushed back to our fortress-monastery of Aldurukh to report back to my father and assist him in battle.

When I had arrived with Corswain, Holguin, and four other Deathwing Terminators, I saw Luther standing over my father's broken body, sobbing. I reacted quicker than the others, rushing forward and tackling the already battered Luther. A red anger overtook me as I punched him as hard as I could as many times as I could. Corswain and Holguin pulled me off of him and my anger cleared as an overwhelming sense of betrayal overtook my body.

"Why did you betray him?! He loved you like a brother and you betrayed him!" I screamed

Luther mumbled something unintelligible but for a moment, anger overtook his eyes and he stared right at me.

"Foolish boy, hold your tongue around me. I am not the reason your father fell, you are, because you did not get here quick enough to save him!" he said

I roared and broke free of Corswain and Holguin, drew my sword and smashed the pommel into his face, Luther crumpled and fell unconscious.

"Leonidas," said a voice

I opened my eyes, reached for my sword which was by my bed, drew it and pointed it at the source of the voice. I sleep lightly, knowing that there are always enemies nearby, which is how I was able to react so quickly.

But this time, it wasn't an enemy, "Cypher?" I said in surprise as I sheathed my sword
"My liege," he said bowing to me, "Forgive me for coming at an inopportune time,"

I was a bit embarrassed considering that I had nothing but a Dark Angels shirt on and shorts but I sat up in my bed and nodded, "Not at all, what brings you here at this hour?"

"I have news regarding the Fallen," he said

That made me perk up, "Please, do tell,"

"I'm sure that you and the I Legion are aware that the Fallen are gathering at the border of the Warp and realspace, yes?" he asked

"That we are," I replied

"Luther is leading them; they plan on uniting with Fulgrim and the Emperor's Children. Apparently, they have heard about your operation to hunt down the Daemon Primarch and that you and Lord Corax are at the helm. They, or at least Luther, plan on reinforcing Fulgrim in hopes of defeating the Dark Angels and Raven Guard," he said
