Rays of sunlight's crept between the blinds, resting on a sleeping dabi. As one of the rays aligned to his eyesight, he let out a grumble before burying his face on the pillow.

Pillow?

He opened his eyes, wondering how in the absolute fuck did he end up in this room. There was a wooden dresser to the side, with a few Disney knick knacks on it. In particular there was a Winnie the Pooh plush that sat on one side and a stitch plush that sat on the other end. The nightstand had some papers on it (probably bills) as well as a bloody shirt that was crumpled on the floor.

'isn't that my shirt?'

He pondered for a moment, remembering last night. That girl. Fumi was her name. She healed him. A wound that should have killed him she was able to heal in a minute. What a strange woman. He sat up from the bed, the sheets sliding off of him, ready to find a way to get out of this place. It was then that he heard a sizzle coming from somewhere in the home. And a smell of meat and eggs wafted into his nostrils. The scent of salty meaty deliciousness making him salivate. His stomach grumbled in response, not having eaten since he ran off (probably even before that really).

He could have breakfast first. And then he'd run. That was his thinking as he made his way to the kitchen. He found the girl with her hair back in a bun, in some thin sweater that looked like a Disney character. She wore some black leggings as well with a blue apron wrapped around her. She was stirring a pan that had slices of steak and onion, another pan of eggs on the stove too.

"Morning! I didn't know if you wanted pancakes but you don't seem like a sweet tooth for breakfast kind of person so I just cooked some meat with eggs and rice. Have a seat! It's almost ready."

He eyed her for a moment, very VERY confused on her kindness being directed at him. "....okay."

He sat down at the small table, his hands lightly grazing the silverware. When was the last time he had a home cooked meal? Most of the food he had eaten was takeout or fished out of a dumpster. His hands formed fists under the table while he was in thought. Now what? What happens after this? He got so invested from her help that he didn't even try to find out if she was even trustworthy. What if the cops were already on their way? Or if shigaraki was sending someone to finish him off?

"Here you go!" He flinched as he was pulled from his thoughts, the plate of food being placed in front of him. The steam from rice rose from his plate, intertwining from the steam coming from the meat as well. His mouth watered at the meal in front of him. But he waited. He waited for Fumi to take the first bite of her own food; he had to be sure there were no tricks involved before he began to eat. The warm rice was comforting as he ate the steak pieces with it, the umami flavors mixing so wonderfully in his mouth.

"So I know this is super different than what you're used to." She began as she cut her eggs, letting the yolk drip onto her rice before mixing it up. "I'm actually a hero. I mostly just do desk work but I sometimes go out on the field for missions when there's a lot of injured people."

"You're not a nurse?" He asked as he furrowed his brows at her announcement. She giggled as she shook her head.

"No, I can't stand nurses. Some of them are such bullies honestly. Since I work with heroes and the police at times, I was thinking of having some of them come here instead of taking you to the police station. They'll be out of uniform and this way you won't be seen since you'll stay in the house-"

"No, I'm not talking to fucking cops."

"Believe me I'm no fan of them either, but they need to be aware so they can tell other police departments about the LOV's plans so they can prepare in advance. I'll also bring a hero who's like a dad to me. He'll make sure we're safe if the cops try anything."

Dabi ate his food angrily, the morning talk ruining his mood for the day. Of course there'd be a catch for enjoying this food. Nothing is free.

"I wouldn't make you see them if it wasn't necessary Dabi. If I show them a plan without proof of where I got it from, they could just toss it out and not take the threat seriously."

"Then that's their fault."

"Come onnnnn." She groaned as she kept her eyes locked on him. "Just do this one thing."

"That one thing can put me in prison princess. Hell no."

"It won't be today, I'll schedule it for tomorrow so I have time to prepare my hero friend for it. He's a good guy and he'll understand your situation."

"I said no. He's not gonna understand."

"Look Dabi-"

"I SAID NO!" He said as he slammed his fists on the table. His arms trembled as he stared at his legs. He was going to lose it at this point. Why can't she just shut up?!

".... If you wanna help those civilians we're gonna need their help. You said it could kill thousands of people. I don't know about you but I can't evacuate a thousand people that fast. If you agree I can vouch for you to be cooperative and can reduce your sentence or even get it fully removed if we're lucky. Then you'll be free to start your own life the way you want to."

"Have you seen my face lately Fumi? I'm not exactly civilian type of look." He refused to look at her. Even when she gently laid her hand on his forearm. The disgustingly burnt forearm. She was touching it. His eyes widened as he realized she didn't flinch at the texture or seem disgusted with it....

"Aww you said my name!" She said with a smile. "Besides, your face isn't scary. Believe me I've met heroes with big canine teeth or shark teeth and they're absolute sweethearts. Looks can be deceiving Dabi.  Anybody who says otherwise is just shallow."

"Stop lying Fumi. It's a bad look on you." He said, his voice low as he removed his arms from the table and opted to lay his hands on his legs. Away from her. From her touch at least.

"I'm not lying Dabi. Whether you wanna believe it or not you're not scary. At least not to me." He kept his gaze away from her. Not knowing whether she was lying to him to gain his trust or not. By now his food was getting cold, and her neverending optimism wavered for a moment. She sighed, knowing she wouldn't get through to him. Not today at least.

"Okay, I'm gonna head to work now. You stay here. The microwave is over there if you wanna reheat your food, I have a plate for lunch ready for you in the fridge, and you can watch whatever you want on the tv. I'll try to get back early today......bye Dabi." She said as she left the table, throwing out her half eaten food to the trash. She grabbed her small backpack as she made her way out of the house.
