Jay's P.O.V

My name is Jay Justice and you may be wondering what your protagonist is like, here’s a basic summary. He’s an awkward teenage geek, they enjoy mythology, mostly greek, and has only two friends, and the 2nd least-popular person in their high school and lives in Manhattan with their uncle Howard.

Happy? No? Fine, I'll tell you more.

I’m the protagonist. Great for me, right? I hope you got the sarcasm in that because trust me, I’m not the protagonist type. Let’s get this story started. In late November, my class was on the school bus going on a field trip to the Manhattan Museum of Modern Art to study Greek and Roman culture and mythology. Our teacher, Mr. Parker, believes in showing rather than telling.

On the bus, I'm seated with my best friend, Peter Wimpson, the #1 least-popular person in my high school. Peter was reading a dark red hardcover book and writing something on a notepad since the beginning of the trip. I finally asked him.
"Hey Pete, what are reading?" This made Peter put a bookmark in the book and closed it.

"It is about three young demigods on a cross-country quest. A friend asked me to read it and give my thoughts on it," Peter explained. Well, that explains the notepad, but I then realized something I originally missed and I looked at Peter.
"I thought I was your only friend," I said and Peter groaned in annoyance.
"I have other friends, Jay," Peter stated.

"Oh really, name one then," I asked and Peter paused for a moment.
"Sadie and Austin Steel," Peter answered.
"Imaginary friends don't count," I said, rolling my eyes. Peter's tone became frustrated.
"They aren't fake, they're real, ask Mary," Peter said, "hey, Mary." Mary stood up from her seat and turned to look at us.
"What do you need," Mary asked.

It was honestly surprising that Mary and Peter are even related, they don't look anything alike. Peter has neat black hair and Mary has long dirty blonde hair. Peter is scrawny and Mary's just thin. Peter has Amber eyes and Mary has blue eyes. "Can you please tell Jay that the Steel siblings are real," Peter asked. Mary paused for a moment.
"No," Mary answered and Peter's jaw dropped.
"Why not," Peter asked.

"I don't want to get into your argument," Mary answered, making Peter start to pout. I sighed, realizing I made one too many jokes about being Peter's only friend too many times… Dick move, Justice, I mentally scolded myself.
"Look, Pete. I'm sorry I made those jokes. I was just poking fun where I shouldn't have and I'm sorry," I said, softly, glancing at my friend. My only friend, other than Mary. Peter looked at me and smiled.

"It's okay. By the way, your black eye is quite an eye score," Peter joked, making a pun. I scoff slightly but playfully.
"It makes me look rogue-ish," I said, smiling.
"Rogue-ish? Who are you? The Punisher," Peter asked, jokingly, that joke actually making me laugh.

For the rest of the trip, we just talked, forgetting about our argument. The bus stopped in front of the museum and the class was starting to get off their bus. As we walked up the entrance stairs Dave Watts tripped Peter. Dave looked like he was born on a military base, even his black hair in a buzz cut and he towered over peter but that ain't really saying much, and his muscles would make a bodybuilder jealous. But thankfully, he doesn't have much when it comes to brains. Classic bully.

"Have a nice trip, see you next fall," Dave said, obnoxiously, while he and his goons, Mike Stone and Rick Thompson, walked away. Dave towered over them as well but to be fair Rick had average height and bone skinny and Mike was very short.

Me and Mary ran to help Peter up, thankfully it was like picking up a pillowcase.
"People still say that? Pete, you okay," Mary asked.

Peter wiped the blood from a scrape on the corner of his chin, pulled out a band-aid, and put it on the scrape. "Yeah, I'm fine guys. Not as bad as Jay's gift from Watts," Peter said, referring to the black eye I got from fighting Dave. Worth it though.
