Jay's P.O.V

I shot upwards in a bed. "Wait, dad!" I yelled right when I woke up, which scared the crap out of Mary, who was asleep in an armchair.
"Noah, don't go!" Mary yelled, falling out of her seat. We both tried to catch our breath.
"Who's Noah?" I asked, looking at Mary. She started to blush, which was a first as she quickly got up.
"No one," Mary suspiciously stated quickly.
"Okay, I don't need to know about your boyfriend," I teased, jokingly.

Mary's face got even redder, then a confused look grew. "Wait, why did you say 'Wait, dad'?" she asked. My expression soften as I reminded myself of what happened. I told her about my dream and in the end, she looked like it was completely normal.
"Why aren't you saying 'You're insane, Jay'?" I asked.

"Because it's very common for demigods that just came here to have dreams of their godly parents to explain what is going on. Think of it as the beginning orientation for demigods," Mary answered, "do you have your heritage rune yet."

I had a million questions, so I went with the most obvious one to go with. "What's going on," I asked.

"Me, Peter, Dave, Mike, and Rick are temporary scouts for demigods in Manhattan and you are our latest recruit," Mary answered, "sorry about knocking you out, it was the easiest way."
"But why?! Why are you scouting out for demigods," I asked, having a hard time believing all this was true.
"So they can learn to use their powers and help their godly parents. On earth they'll be safe yes but not from themselves. They can do some serious damage when left untaught, so we take them here and teach them, take care of them, and when they master everything they can go home or stay here and help as well as they can with our little community," Mary explained.

"This is a lot to take in," I said, rubbing my temples gently. "I know, Peter felt the same way you do but you have to believe me when I say you and 70% of everyone here is a demigod," Mary said, patiently and kindly. For some reason, these words were more believable, and frankly more comforting, from Mary than from the man who claimed to be Zeus and my father.
"Okay, I believe you, Mary," I said, nodding.
"Good this whole demigod thing is hard to believe but it's the truth," Mary said, hopping he'd believe her.

"Wait, are you a demigod to Mary?" I asked, curiously and Mary nodded.
"My mom is Athena, the goddess of wisdom and battle strategy. Please, look at your wrist," Mary said. I was confused by the request but I obliged and looked at my right wrist and saw nothing. I then looked at my left wrist and saw a tattoo of a gold-colored lightning bolt. My eyes widened.
"How did this get here? Did you guys tattoo me in my sleep?" I asked.

"No, when Demigods find out who their godly parents are, a rune gets randomly tattooed on their body," Mary explained, "let me see it." I got up from the bed and walked to Mary. While going to her I look around the room. It looks like the big bedroom of an apartment. There was a bookshelf full of books, a large wooden desk that looks like a map displayed on it, a large dresser, and a closet inside the wall. Mary examined my left wrist. "I have never seen this type of rune but I have never seen a Zeus demigod either," Mary said, looking up at me.

"Can I see your rune?" I asked and Mary looked at me.
"Sure," Mary said and she then pulled her shirt collar to show her right shoulder, the rune was a silver owl. "Peter has the same rune but it's on his left hip," Mary explained. I smiled, appreciating her explaining everything but then a question I should've asked first.
"Where are we exactly," I asked.

"Oh, forgot to tell you. You're in old Greece," Mary said, "in other words, you're in a different dimension." Once again, to say I was confused was an understatement. My eyes widened, jaw dropped.
"Beg your pardon?" I asked, honestly not sure how Mary would explain this one.
"A different dimension," Mary repeated, "come with me." She stood up from her chair and went to the door, opening it. She stopped and turned towards me. "Come on," she said, waiting for me.
