Not the End [Eve & Villanelle]

Chapter 1 - Train

It had been 3 hours since Villanelle died.

Eve sat on the train, clothes drenched and eyes still sore. The moment Eve emerged from the water all she could do was cry. One large initial cry, and the rest were small and soft. She sat on the bank of River Thames, waiting for Villanelle. Though she knew deep in her soul, the chances of that happening were impossible. She even tried looking for Villanelle. Eve looked her hardest, but a combination of the dark mixed with the blurry vision from her tears did not make things easier. Losing hope, Eve waited and cried, waited and cried. She must have waited so long she cried herself to sleep.

She didn't know where to go after that. She thought of going on the double decker, as it reminded her of Villanelle, but there were no more buses this late at night. She settled for the next best thing and got herself on a 24/7 nonstop double decker train. The train ran a circular route around London. When it arrived at the last stop, it would just go back to the beginning and keep on going. Perhaps that was how Eve felt. Stuck on a train track that never seemed to end. At least before this, she had Villanelle with her. But now... she was alone.

By now the train was likely headed back to the beginning of Eve's journey. Where Eve got on an hour ago. Eve starred at the empty seat in front of her, her vision becoming blurry once again; not recognising the soaking blonde shuffling towards her. The weight of wet cargo pants dragging her down. She stopped and turned to look at Eve.

Eve still starring at the empty seat in front of her didn't give a response, though her vision seemed to clear up. Villanelle slowly sat down besides Eve and shivered slightly under the cold air of the AC. Finally, Eve turned her head, side eyeing Villanelle.

Seeing the person she had been searching for so long, Eve felt like crying again but decided against it. She simply turned her attention back to the empty seat and said,

"Don't do that again."

"I'm sorry." Villanelle responded. "I had to."
