bruce sat down at the table and vance sat next to him, glancing around the table. it was a pretty big table, it was round — an oval shape — and it was light gray, along with light gray chairs. on the other side of bruce was his younger sister. she looked about eight, she had long brown hair and dark brown eyes. across from vance and bruce were bruce's parents, his mom looking almost exactly like the sister— technically the sister looked like the mom— and his dad had much lighter brown hair, and lighter eyes. he also had a small beard growing, just barely out of the stubble phase. bruce's dad cleared his throat. "so, uhm, you two are dating now?" bruce nodded with a smile. "yeah!"

his dad lets out an unimpressed hum. "since when were you even into boys, bruce?" bruce visibly tensed. "well— uhm," vance looked at him, he knew he didnt have that planned out. "we've been dating for a while." he spoke up. "about, what, two months? we wanted to keep it a secret at first. but, we recently decided that we were ready to tell people." bruce's dad looked at vance, his gaze was intimidating— judgemental. "hopper." vance nodded in reply. "i've heard a lot about you. you and your.. fights." vance shrugged. "i mean, who hasnt?" he leaned back in his chair. bruce's dad looked back to bruce. "you really love him? really? come on, bruce. there's so many girls who would die for you to notice them."

"so? i love vance, not them." his dad grimaced. "mr. yamada, if you have a problem with me, please just say it to my face." vance glared, his anger clearly getting the best of him. "for your information, i do have a problem. bruce could do so much better than you." vance clenched his fists. that really pissed him off. why? because it was true. because he knew that as soon as this was over, things would go back to how they were — back to their separate lives. back to bruce ignoring vance's existence. and back to vance desperately wishing he wouldn't. because bruce could do so much better than vance, and he would as soon as he decided he was done with this scheme.

"dad." bruce spoke up. "don't be an asshole. vance is an amazing boyfriend. you wouldn't know, so don't speak on it. now, i think we're done eating." he stood up. "lets go, vance." vance stood up as well, following bruce out of the room when he left.
vance sat down on the bed. bruce seemed happy. very happy. "that went well! hes totally pissed. we wont have to stay together long!" he smiled, brightly almost. ouch. "yay," vance offered a smile back, its far from genuine, though. he cleared his throat and looked out the window, wanting to change the topic. "i should get home. its dark." bruce looked out the window as well. "you should stay the night— since its already dark, you know. it's dangerous—"

"aww, brucey, you care about meee." he wrapped his arms around bruce again, blush spread across bruce's face and he pushed the other off, averting his gaze. "i'll take the floor." vance said, standing up. "what? no way. take the bed, you're the guest."
"i'm not taking your bed."
"i'm offering it to you."
"i'm not taking it." vance crosses his arms. "fine, then we'll both take the bed." bruce sighed. "fine—" vance sat back down. "i'd offer you clothes, but, uhm.." he looked vance up and down. "you're a bit shorter than me,," he paused. "oh! i might have some hand-me-downs from my cousin you can use."

vance came back into bruce's room from the shower, his hair still wet. bruce looked up from his phone to vance. "you take quick showers." vance shrugged. "my dad yells at me if i take too long," he walked over to the bed. "makes the water bill too high." he sat beside bruce. bruce nodded in understanding, although he didnt really understand at all. he looked at vances hair. "can i do your hair?" he blurted. vance looked at him, he noticesd the glint of excitement in his eyes. he hesitated, before sighing "uhm- yeah. sure." bruce smiles brightly. "thank you!"

"yeah, whatever." he sat on the ground and leaned back against the bed. bruce scooted up behind him and started messing with his hair. vance leaned into his touch a couple times. he couldn't lie, it felt nice. after a couple minutes, bruce stopped. "there, done! here." he handed vance his phone so he could look at his hair. he had put it into a ponytail. vance smiled, and bruce noticed. he quickly covered it up, though. "i look stupid." he crossed his arms. "what! no you don't. i think my ponytail skills are amazing."

"keep tellin' yourself that." he sat back on the bed, taking the ponytail out. "aww, man." bruce pouted. vance rolled his eyes. "i'm tired." bruce stated simply, with a yawn. "go to sleep, dumbass."

"lay with me." vance froze. "what?" bruce laid down. "so if my parents come in, we dont look like awkward friends trying to share the bed."

"oh. right." he hesitantly laid beside him. bruce scooted close to him and wrapped his arms around vance, closing his eyes. vance's breath caught in his throat, but he slowly wrapped his arms around bruce. "goodnight," bruce murmured softly. "night." vance replied. he doubted he'd get any sleep, though. his mind was preoccupied.
