vance had been.. distant, to say the least. did bruce regret his words? sure, maybe he wasn't exactly careful with his words. but he panicked. he had just barely admited to himself that he liked vance, he wasn't ready to tell vance. especially, since he knew the other didn't like him back. he couldn't ruin things, he thought, but it seemed as if he already had. vance was barely talking to him — bruce was surprised he still wanted to be in the fake relationship. he'd practically ghosted bruce — ouch, major karma. he couldn't lie, he missed vance. every message he got, every call, everytime he heard the doorbell ring, he prayed it was vance. but, it never was.
he practically jumped up whenever the doorbell rang. god, he'd really fucked up this time, hadnt he? he sighed. as if on cue, he heard the doorbell ring, but he couldnt bring himself to get up and answer it. he eventually gave in when its rang repeatedly, though. he got up and went to the door, opening it. "what—" he started, but his mood changed when he saw it was vance standing outside. "vance!" a smile makes its way onto his face. "oh thank g—"
"we need to break up." bruce's face fell, his mood falling too. "what..?" vance scoffed. "did you not fuckin' hear me? i said, we. need. to. break. up. i'm done with this stupid ass fake dating shit. i should've never agreed to it in the first place. i dont— i dont want to speak anymore. am i clear?" his fists are clenched. bruce started to say something, anything to salvage the friendship. that was the last thing bruce wanted. he started to say that, but stopped himself. vance looked like the slightest little thing would set him off. bruce nodded slowly, tears pricking at his eyes. "y-yeah. you're clear." he murmured. "i got it." he looked away from vance, swallowing thickly. "thanks." vance said. he turned and started to walk away, but he can't stop himself from shooting a glance back at bruce.
the last thing he wanted to do was cut contact, but he wouldn't let himself fall any further. he was just becoming more in love with the other while being around him, and since he didn't like him back, he needed to put space between them before his 'little' crush got worse. god, why was love such a pain in the ass?
bruce closed the door. he wanted to believe that hadnt really happened. he headed upstairs to his room, sitting on his bed. he still felt in shock. he laid down, running a hand through his hair. he grabbed vance's jacket — he'd forgotten to give it back the other day. he holds it close to himself. before he can stop it, the tears start falling. he buries his face in his pillow, keeping ahold of the jacket. god, he officially hated love. it was stupid of him to fall for vance. bruce was stupid. vance was stupid. his parents were stupid. everything was stupid, and he hated it all. stupid life. soft sobs leave his mouth. tears rolled down his face, he felt like his throat was closing up. why did this stupid universe hate him? he clenched his fists, squeezing his eyes shut. he just wanted his brain to stop. he wanted it to shut off. he didn't want vance on his brain. he wanted literally anything else. but yet, that was the last thing that was happening. stupid, stupid, stupid. why did he let himself fall? he knew it was just fake dating. just fake attraction. fake. but yet, here he was, sobbing over vance. it was fucking stupid that he thought vance would love him.
