A few days later, no sign of Finney or any of the boys when violet was searching for them...
She listened to every dream Gwen had within those past few days so far nothing of where they were at no markers of the location besides a tree and a window to a basement.
She kept her eyes open for the tree Gwen saw in the yard of the grabber's house as she searched for them every day and every night.
Finney was trapped in the basement, when he woke up the grabber had come down staring at him "I should snap your neck for what you did to my arm you little punk." the grabber told Finney showing the boy his arm that was injured and bloody. Finney didn't answer just stared at the man with angry eyes with hazy vision from drugs that were in the spray he had ingested.
The next few days for Finney was hell, the basement was sound proof so he could scream but no one could hear him, not even the grabber when the door to the basement was closed shut. those few days the phone rang but there was no answer from the other side but that didn't stop the boy from answering the phone because the thought someone on the other side of the call that could help him brought him hope.
the phone rang once again that day and Finney rushed to pick it up "hello?? Is somebody there?? I need help." Finney asked it was silent until a ghostly voice came through the phone saying "Finneyy." Finney panted quickly hanging up the phone falling onto the floor and scooting away from it breathing heavily.
as the soon as the phone is hung up it rings again, Finney picked up the phone then put it back down stopping the ringing. the phone rang through the room again "don't hang up" the person on the other side tells him "I won't." Finney said pausing before continuing with a question "who is this???" "I don't remember my name.." the boy on the other side of the phone told Finney "why not?" Finney asked the boy curiously "It's the first thing you lose when..." the boy replied "the first thing you lose when?" Finney asked "you know when." the boy replied in a snapping manner.
"how do you know my name?" Finney asked the boy "we met once. you almost had me. your arm is mint." the person on the other side told Finney "Bruce? Bruce Yamada?" Finney asked the boy who reminded him of Bruce "yeah Bruce... Ehhh I'm Bruce.. Your arm is mint. You almost had me." Bruce replied to Finney
"did the phone ring for you?" Finney asked the boy curiously "It rang but none of us heard it. Just you. The grabber hears the phone too, but he doesn't want to believe it." Bruce explained to Finney. "why are you calling me?" Finney asked Bruce "Your arm is mint. You almost had me. I'm glad it's you." Bruce told Finney before continuing "Finney?" "yeah?" Finney answered
"There's a dirt section of the floor in the hallway-where the tile is loose. Dig down underneath the foundation. I tired but there wasn't time for me to dig up and out the other side." Bruce explained to Finney. "will I have enough time?" Finney asked Bruce.
No answer just static through the phone until the sound of it hanging up came through, Finney hung up the phone and rushed over to the tiles ripping them up from the ground and began to dig a hole, flushing the dirt into the toilet.
few hours later, Finney had gotten the hole pretty deep, he stopped and covered it with a rug. Before laying down onto the old stained mattress, exhausted from digging and it didn't take him long to fall asleep.
While Finney was asleep, Violet had gotten suspended for two week because of a fight with the three boys who messed with Finney everyday at school. But that was exactly what she wanted time off from school meant time to search for the boys with not happening to skip school plus those boys deserved what they got during the fight.
Violet started her search of the day the second she made it out the school doors, she got onto her bike and started her search in some of the neighborhoods near the school.
the wind in her hair, the sound of her bike petals it felt like another skip day with Vance and Bruce, the feeling of if she'd looked over see her brother next to her trying to race then Bruce who was once behind the twins was now in front of them due to the twins bickering, then Bruce would call out that he was winning then both her and Vance would rush to catch up.
A normal skip day for the three of them.... Now it was just a memory that replayed on loop in her head...
Violet shook herself out of the memories focusing on the houses, focusing on her surroundings. everything seemed just like another hopeless search of the day, still no sign of the boys..
until she approached a black van, she looked at it closely to see if it was the one Gwen described, she started to bike faster trying to get to back to the school where the police had been doing some interrogations to see if any of the students had seen anything to tell the police her discovery of the van that Gwen had described.
before she knew it the van had followed her picking up it's speed to stay close behind her and she didn't notice the van following her. she was lost in thought, racing to the police..
Will violet make it back to the school..?
