it's been weeks since me and draco's conversation. i've been avoiding him, mostly out of embarrassment. mostly out of spite. i didn't want him to know that he got to me, so i moved on.
"cmon ludo, we are leaving!!" serena shouts from outside of the bathroom.
"i'm not going to hogsmeade to get your stupid chocolate frogs!" i shout back brushing my teeth and spitting into the sink.
"ludo, we are going dress shopping. you know, for the ball?" pansy chimes in.
shit. the autumn ball, i completely forgot.
"fucking hell we are going today?" i say opening the door, my bun slumping to the side of my head.
"yes, the dance is in 4 days, the store is already picked over we have to." veronica says applying lip gloss in the vanity mirror.
"fine, i'll be ready in 5, i'll meet you guys in the common room." i groan shooing them away from me.
i grab the nearest clothes i could find and throw on some doc martens before heading down stairs, pulling a beanie over the mess of my hair.
"that was 7 minutes ludo." veronica says looking down at her wrist watch.
"whatever guys can we just go?" i sigh trudging to the door.
we all walk together out the doors and pass our notes to mcgonnagol to leave campus.
"ludo, what has gotten into you, lately you've been so -" serena starts
"bitchy?" veronica says
"lack luster?" pansy continues
"well i wasn't going to say that but yes, what they said." serena says shrugging her shoulders.
"i've just not been in the mood for happiness i guess." i reply, crossing my arms.
"is it what malfoy did?" pansy says looking up at me with a sympathetic face.
"no, it's mattheo, has he not been chatting with you lately." serena steps in.
it's nothing, really. i've just not enjoyed school is all" i lie, knowing it is fully what happened with malfoy.
the walk stilled after that, we made it to the dress shop, the inside lined with fancy linens and puff. definitely not my thing.
"oh look at this one, it's perfect!" veronica shouts holding up a midnight purple dress with black details
"oh vee i love it! hey come look at this." serena says back holding up a golden v-neck dress with a slit going up the front.
"it's beautiful serena, i think i'm just going to go with a simple green one like this." pansy says holding up a long sleeve black gown.
they all squeak as they walked over to the dressing rooms, and to no suprise everything fit them perfectly.
"are you not trying anything ludo?" serena says with a frown.
i looked around at all the dresses and couldn't find a single thing that was for me or in my size.
"no, it's alright. im sure i can just wear an old dress from last year." i shrug sitting back in the velvet chairs before the dressing rooms.
"if that's what you want, but think about it okay?" veronica says before shutting the the curtains.
they all wound up buying the dresses and we walked back to the castle. everyone went their seperate ways, and i landed back into our dorm. i opened up my trunk to see the ugly turquoise dress i wore to the last autumn ball.
"this will have to do." i sigh as i collapsed onto my bed and didn't wake up til the next morning.
"rise and shine my lovely's!" serena cheered as she walked to the door.
"i hope u die." pansy groans as she gets up out of bed and slams the bathroom door shut.
"isn't she the sweetest!" serena just smiles as she combs her hair on the vanity.
"what's got you all happy happy joy joy?" i ask picking out my outfit for the day.
"well if you must know... blaise woke me up with this!" serena grins as she flashes an obscenely large bouquet of roses and a note that says "autumn ball?"
"oh my god serena that's great!!" i cry hugging her.
"only took the bastard a month." veronica says sarcastically as she walks over to serena to hug her.
"well we already know enzo is taking me and pansy with her ex so that just leaves ludo to find a date!" veronica says as she sits on my bed.
"i don't need a date,i'll just go by myself. it's not like any man would want to be seen with me wearing this." i cringe as i hold up my old dress.
"it's not horrible." serena says, clearly lying.
"yeah whatever, i'm going to breakfast. love you girls." i say as i blow them a kiss and make my way down to the great hall.
i sit down next to blaise and we talk about him and serena for awhile, before owls came and dropped off mail.
my plate clattered on the table as a mid sized parcel is dropped in front of me.
"whatcha got their?" nott asked picking up the package.
"i have no clue, it doesn't have a name." i question furrowing my brows.
"well open it!" enzo jeers, handing me the package back.
"i'll open it later, i wanna finish eating." i say, sliding the package next to my hip.
we chat for awhile longer about the ball, without any sight of malfoy. weird.
i head back to the dorms to grab my books for the day and set the package down to open it.
the package was a black box, with no name and inclosed was a beautiful long black gown, backless and coreseted.

i stood there in awe, i almost didn't see the note at the bottom of the package.
"my dearest ludovica, i know that the ball is coming up so i hope this found you in good time. this dress was your mothers, she wore it to her first autumn ball, and i wanted to gift it to you. i miss you every day.
your father."
i broke down in tears and held the dress tight to me, still being able to smell her perfume on the dress.
i stayed in the dorms for a little bit, clutching onto the dress before setting it up on the tippy top shelf of the dresser and walking to my next class.
you thought the dress was gonna be from draco huh? yeahhhhh you did. loser. anyways this ain't no regular shmegluar ff. yes it does have a dance in it 🙄 obviously. but when i tell u how slow burn this shit it is? i mean it. BUCKLE UP FOR THIS NEXT CHAPTER THO #chaos
