Chapter Twenty~Unsteady

"What's going on?" I jolt up from the bed with a gasp.

My hand goes directly to my stomach as I remember what just happened...Or I think just happened...How long have I been out?

"Chloe!" I hear someone shout.

I watch as the girls come flying in the room and topple over top of me knocking me onto my back.

"How long have I been out?" I ask.

"It's only been a few hours but the pack doctor came and gave you some pain killers." Casey says.

"Does the doctor know what's wrong with me?" I ask pushing the girls off me.

"No, but your dad said that a witch's pregnancy is different than a humans and a wolf's. Don't ask why because he didn't tell us. All we know is that some things that you learned about in health class will not apply in this pregnancy." Grace explains.

"What do you mean?" I ask.

"She means, you will have a shorter pregnancy and it will hurt a lot more." Dad says as he enters the room.

"Are you still mad at me?" I ask looking down at the floor.

"Chloe, I was never mad at you. Yes, you are sill my pup and will always be until the day I die but I'm happy for you and Will." He says and I smile. "Although you could have waited a few more years." He adds in and I just roll my eyes.

"It wasn't planned. Now, what did the doctor say?" I ask changing the subject.

"The doctor said that you need to take it easy. The pregnancy will probably only last 6 1/2 months. That's the average for a witch pregnancy." Dad says.

"What was it like for mom?" I ask.

"She had it hard and so did I. It tore me apart that I wasn't able to help her at all." Dad explains.

"Will it be that bad for us?" I ask in worry.

"I honestly have no idea." He admits.

I see Will walk up behind my father and think about what this is all going to be like for him. I cringe at the thought.

"Where did you go?" I ask looking into his eyes.

"I went for a run. I needed to burn off some steam. Sorry for not being here when you woke up." He says walking over and kissing my forehead.

"Everything will be fine." Lucy says hugging me.

"I'm not too sure about that." Grace says under her breath.

"What do you mean?" She asks.

"I phoned my parents and they agreed to let me stay out here but the thing is that they're looking for a house out here. I mean what's going to happen when they find one, move out here and find out that I'm staying here 'cause of a guy. They'll haul my ass back home to Memphis." Grace replies.

"Over my dead body." Max growls. I didn't even notice him in the room!

"Calm it wolfy." Emily snarls.

Max just growls at Emily and I can tell that Max has officially left the building.

"Will!" I squeal as Max lunges for Emily.

I jump at Emily and flash us out to the kitchen...Again.

"This is becoming a pattern." I say.

"Yeah, sorry. I didn't think he'd go all Finley on us." She says brushing herself off.

I laugh at her comment and we walk back to the room. I can hear growling coming from the room and I just chuckle under my breath.

As we enter the room I get the shock of my life. Max is on Will and Finley is trying to push him off. I let my emotions get the best of me and move my arm across in front of my body and Max goes flying.

"What the heck Chloe!" Grace shouts.

I start to feel unsteady for the second time today and I'm starting to get really worried. I feel my eyes roll back in my head and fall to the ground again. This time I don't feel any pain I just feel drowsy.

"Someone get the doctor back in here?" I hear Emily yell as I drift in and out.

"Everything's going to be okay baby, I promise." I hear Will whine.

The sound of everyone panicking and that sight of everyone around me is the last thing I remember as I pass out for the second time today.
