Las Vegas looks straight out of a movie.
It took a few hours to drive here, but it was so worth it.
All of the buildings are lit up brightly. The gold lights shine down onto us, while the warm air comes in through the rolled-down window.
Water shoots up out of the long fountain beside us, the lights from it making it look as if it were pure gold.
The city was thriving. The sidewalks were filled with people walking, and the road was constantly filled with cars. Music played loudly, although I wasn't sure where it was coming from.
The sky was black and filled with stars. There wasn't a single cloud in sight.
A large building came into view. A large fountain sat in front of it, and the screens on the sides of the building showed pictures of dice and diamonds before switching to promote Hades' casino.
Nerves settle into my stomach as we come to a stop.
What if this goes wrong?
What if we can't kill him?
What if he kills us?
Gosh I'm about to bite my acrylics off.
"Are you ready for one last performance, Mrs Jones?" Nic questions after putting the car into park.
It's now or never.
I take a deep breath, and nod. He gives me a smile before getting out of the car, and I step out, too.
My heel clicks against the ground as I step out. My black hair is straightened, looking glossy under the moonlight. Nic links his arm with mine, and under the glow from the building lights and the sound of the busy city, we walked toward the entrance.
We were matching. He wore a dark blue suit, and I wore a tight dark blue dress. We had never looked more like a couple than right now.
My eyes widen and I whisper under my breath as we enter the building, "Holy shit."
Never in my life had I ever seen a bigger casino. Groups of people stood at the blackjack table, cheering and shaking the guy playing. Every single slot machine was full. The floors were beige marble, the building just smelt new and elite.
"You have the poison?" I whisper to him.
"Mhm. And a gun, just in case."
I nod.
We enter deeper into the casino.
The people playing at the slot machines looked like they were hypnotized by the screen in front of them. Some machines made loud noises as the people won, and other people cursed as they continued to lose.
Once we passed the gambling area, we reached a door with a guard standing in front of it.
We approached the guard, and told him, "Mr and Mrs Jones."
With a straight face, he looked down at his notes. And once he saw that we were on the list, he gave us one singular nod, telling us to go in.
We enter. And it's a much different atmosphere than the other room.
A large room filled with white tables sat before us. They were all white dining tables, with empty plates and glasses. A stage was to the left, with a projector that displayed an image of Hades on the screen behind.
"Where is he?" I whisper to Nic.
His eyes scan around the party.
"I don't know," he replies.
