As the sky turned gray and the ocean waters became frantic, Mariana looked at the horizon and heaved a sigh. It's already been 18 years since she was born and 2 months since her mother died from the hand of Perseus. She felt lonely and betrayed.
"You told me that you won't leave me. You were the kindest, mother." She said amidst the heavy rain and strong breeze.
She's her mother's beloved youngest daughter and the youngest child of the God of Sea. Although she know her parents, his father doesn't know about her existence. Not that she wanted Poseidon to know, in fact she liked him not knowing about her. After all, he was the cause of everything that Medusa went through.
"Mariana! Come here or you'll die in the cold," Harper called her.
Harper is a close friend of her mother. They became friends when Medusa got kicked out from the temple of Athena. No one knows this but Medusa isn't always beastly. She have the appearance of a beautiful maiden in the morning and the cursed appearance in the night.
Mariana took a deep breath before going in to the house. Harper gave her a towel that she accepted and wiped her wet hair with. After drying herself, she sat down to one of the cushions of the living room.
Harper's house is located at the countryside near the ocean. Mariana has grown to hate the waters, so she hated the fact that she's living near it but she doesn't have a choice but live there.
"Are you still thinking about your mother? Although I don't know what happened, all I know is that your mother won't like it if you'll be like this. She wanted you to be happy Mariana."
"I know," Mariana answered shortly. She doesn't really wanted to talk about her mother. Her emotions will seep through her. She might cry if the conversation will go through.
"I'll be at my room. I'm sorry if I acted like this, Harper."
Harper just smiled and nodded. She understands Mariana just like how she understood Medusa. Mariana left the living room and went to her room.
She locked the door as she got inside. She sat in her bed and looked outside the windows. Staring from afar, she frantically stands when she saw two familiar figures.
"They're here," she said in a low tone.
She took a step outside to the balcony connected to her room. She wanted to have a clear look at her brothers, Pegasus and Chrysaor.
Both the winged horse and the winged boar encircled the area where her mother was buried. It's like they're mourning for her, which they should do since Medusa is also their mother.
Mariana is intently staring at them. She wanted to know what their next move will be. Although she wasn't expecting it, she was in awe when she saw her brothers transformed into human bodies.
Mariana was careful and tried her best to lessen her smell for they can smell it within a radius of a hundred kilometers or more. She wanted to avoid them because she doesn't know if they will accept her or they will just hand her to Olympus since she inherited both the power of the sea and her mother's curse, however, the only curse that she inherited is the curse of petrify and she can control snakes. She can petrify anyone she wanted to and make snakes her subordinate. It was no problem to her even if she inherited her mother's snakey appearance but she's lucky to not inherit it.
Due to her presence, Pegasus and Chrysaor noticed her. They both looked at her direction which made her felt nervous. She hastily left the balcony and got in her room once again.
She got into her bed and forced herself to sleep.
As the sun rises, Mariana woke up and hurriedly ran to her mother's grave to check if there's anything wrong with it. She doesn't trust any of her brothers. She was shocked to see the ground where her mother burial ground dug up. She doesn't know what to feel, she's having mixed emotions right now. She doesn't know if she wanted to cry, scream or let out her raging powers.
She was about to scream but she found a note beside the small cross of her mother. She took it and read the content of the note.
It says;
We know that you wanted her
She's not dead yet
We are going to revive her
No curse nor sufferings
We can be together
If you want to bring her back
You should help us
We know you as she made us dream about you
Meet us at the white sands of the father's territory tomorrow when the sky's turn dark
Help us, Mariana
Help us take our mother back, our sister.Signed,
Pegasus and Chrysaor
A tear came falling from Mariana's eyes. A glimpse of hope has shown to her doors. She'll hold to it. As much as her brothers want Medusa back, she also wanted her mother back to her.
She fold the note and left the graveyard. She have decided.
"I will take you back mother. No matter the obstacles is, I will have your life back and I will take revenge to the many who have ruined you. Wait for me mother, we will be together again."
