Old Friends, New Places

What's to Come...

There was an awkward silence both just stared at each other, eyeing what the other was doing. Misty was fiddling around in her bag going through things and grabbed something and placed it behind her back, so Serena didn't see what it was.

Serena on the other hand was fixing her hair and readjusted her hat every now and then trying to make herself presentable, she even dusted off her dress which had not a speck of dirt on it. She was fussing over nothing, the only thing on her mind was that she had to look more prettier than Misty who never made a fuss about her appearance.

"Is that so?" Misty said slyly, breaking the silence. "Ok how about a Pokémon battle?"

"What? B-But I only have one Pokémon with me and that's Fennekin." Looking down at the only partner, who was snuggling up against her leg.

"Well have you ever been in a Pokémon battle before?" Misty asked smirking while taking a Ppokéball out, throwing it up and down in a sort of intimidating way.

"No not yet, but I'm still a beginner at stuff like this." She confessed, kneeling down and scratched Fennekin's ear, who purred.

"Well then here's your chance to." Misty said still throwing the pokéball.

"Ok, but...if I win you have to stay as far away from Ash. And if you win I'll keep my distance from him and stop flirting with him." Serena said, considered about the out come to if she loses.

"Sound like fun, but I warn you I'm not going easy on you just because you're a beginner." Misty said putting the pokéball away.

Both walked back to where Ash, Clemont and Bonnie standing dumbfounded at Serena's actions earlier and how she dragged Misty away to an unknown place.

"Oh there you guys are." Ash said running towards Misty and hugging her, "what happened?" He whispered in her ear, before pulling away blushing a little.
"Not much, just that I challenged her to a Pokémon battle." She answered him also blushing.

"You can't be serious, you can't bet her Serena." Clemont butted in, shocked at the words that came from Misty's mouth.

"Well, you don't know that." Snapped Serena, "and besides we made a bet, though I won't tell you guys what it is till the end of out battle." Serena continued with a sighed.

"Ok, sounds like it'd be fun." Ash smiled red cheeked to Misty, who in turn turn a light shade of pink looking down smiling as well.

All were standing outside on the beach, watching wide eyed to the battle that was about to begin. The two whom were to battle, stood across from each other, Misty was standing in the water, about ankle length (she did of course take her shoes off before standing there) and Serena was standing on the sand with a confused look on her face at where Misty was standing.

"Go Misty!" Ash called out from where he was standing.

"Thanks!" Misty called back, smiling.

"Ok are you two done?" Asked Clemont, who was refereeing the match that was about to start... just as both Ash and Misty nodded, signalling that they were done. "Ok, on the right side we have the Gym Leader of the Cerulean gym, Misty! And on the left is new comer Serena." Clemont announced.

"Hey, why am I an new comer?" Serena yelled at Clemont, frowning at her introduction.

"It's because you are." Said Clemont calmly. "Ok so here are the rules, you are to use only one Pokémon, the Pokémon that is unable to continue is declared the loser. You two got it?" Both nodded and prepared their Pokémon.

"Fennekin it's your time to shine." And with that Fennekin jumped forward on to the field.

Grabbing a pokéball the side of her belt, that was keeping her all Pokémon. "Ok let's go Gyarados, let's show em' how much we trained together." Misty said throwing the pokéball up high and out came Gyarados, who roared scaring Bonnie, who hid behind Ash clinging onto his jacket.

"Hey it's ok, he's trained." Ash kneeled down to reassure the soon to be Pokémon trainer in a few years, who nodded letting go of him.

Serena stood there looking at her opponents Pokémon, she quickly got out her pokédex to examine what she was up against.

"Gyarados. This Pokémon has a vicious temperament, so use extreme caution. Its fangs can crush stones and its scales are harder than steel." That was all the information she could get out of her pokédex, well she did shake it a couple of times to she if it was working, just to get more information on Gyarados.

"What wrong, getting cold feet?" Misty asked, noting Serena's fear in her eyes.

"W-what no way I'm getting cold feet." Serena nervously said.

A/N: I'm so sorry this chapter took so long to write, but I was having no inspiration to write about and I was supposed to watch some old Pokémon movies and shows and maybe a little bit of the new one to get inspiration, but I didn't have time to do that so, because I have assessments to do.
