"LB?" He put his ear to her mouth. Nothing. "Ladybug, please." He pleaded as his eyes started to burn with fresh tears. He couldn't let panic take him over or she would definitely be a goner.
Cat Noir did the only thing he could, CPR. He was so glad he decided to get certified for CPR in case he needed it as Cat Noir.
"Come on, LB. Please don't leave me." His voice began to break. Her earrings flashed one last time as the beeps intensified before fading to silence. A blindingly familiar light flooded his vision. He opened his eyes, shock and horror overwhelming him. A sob built in his throat.
"No... no!" He screamed as the sobs finally escaped, tears rolling down his cheeks. He cupped her cheek, picking her up in his arms and just holding her. "I'm so sorry Marinette. I tried..." He paused, trying to collect himself. "I tried to save you." He closed his eyes tight, letting the tears stream down his face. He didn't even notice he had detransformed until he opened his eyes and saw Plagg on the ground, exhausted. He handed his kwami a piece of his favorite cheese, then turned his attention back to his best friend, his first love, and his partner.
He gently moved the loose hair away from her face. Tikki, who Adrien hadn't noticed in his grief-stricken state, flew over to him with Marinette's earrings in her tiny hands.
He held his hand out as she carefully dropped them into his hands. "I know you'll do the right thing, Adrien." She said with a tired smile and a small nod before being sucked into the magical jewels.
