Drowning

Chapter 5

"Really?" She said in disbelief.

Adrien braced himself for what she was about to say next. He was worried everything would change. That things would be awkward between them, or worse that they wouldn't be friends.

"I... I feel the same way," Marinette smiled after a pause. "I've loved you since our first day of school together." She confessed, her cheeks tinged pink.

Adrien beamed. Now it was his turn to be surprised. He didn't think a girl as amazing as Marinette would like someone as "average" as him. Little did Adrien know, that Marinette was thinking the same thing just moments earlier.

The two just stared at each other for a moment. They didn't know what to say. What are you supposed to say to the person you've had a crush on that feels the same way?

After realizing that he's just been staring at her for a solid minute, Adrien spoke. "Do you want to get André's ice cream with me? I know you're going to be in here for a few more days, but maybe I can bring you some."

"I'd love that." Mariette smiled.

The two chatted for a few minutes before they both got tired. Now that Adrien knew Marinette would be ok, he could finally get some sleep. He dozed quickly but Marinette, on the other hand, did not. She waited until her parents arrived so she could greet them. They were overjoyed to see that their daughter would be ok.

The next day everyone went about their daily lives as of nothing happened. News got around school that Marinette was fine. Marinette's whole class made her cards and sent flowers to her room.

It wasn't too long after that Marinette was back on her feet. She went back to school, where Adrien slipped up and revealed they were dating. Alya was furious she wasn't the first to know, but she was happy for her best friend. Plus, she got to make fun of Adrien for being oblivious.

All was right with the world. Marinette made a full recovery and was back to being Ladybug full-time now. Adrien had kept her secret identity a secret. They went about their lives as if nothing happened, but it did happen. That night haunts Adrien and Marinette almost every night, but they will get through it. Together.
