Transcendent

The Scream

I awoke from my sleep to hear screaming coming from down stairs; I leaped out of my bed swung open. The door nearly flew off of its hinges; I thundered down the stairs as the adrenaline rushed through my body. My eyes searched the room, trying to help my ears pin point where the noises where coming from, then bang! I heard a gun go off in the kitchen, I could hear my dad screaming with pain.

I burst the door open too find my mum lying comfortably in a pool of dark red liquid. I found two men pinning my dad to the wall. He was forced to watch my mother's death, his face said it all. I charged at her and threw myself at her, wishing and praying that she wasn't dead. Shaking her hoping she would regain consciousness but there was nothing I could do to save her.

My eyes started to tear up, I could only see a shadowy blur of the kitchen and the three figures which looked as though they merged together, they stained the white walls. Everything in the room went grey, I started to feel sick. My face was saturated with the teary waterfall which ran down my face.

My dad was shocked to see me in this situation, a situation which he never wished me to see in my entire life. He kept screaming at me to leave and run away from this catastrophe and save myself but I couldn't leave her like this. I couldn't leave her body to rot in a situation like this.

My heart was pounding giving me a sharp pain in my chest. It hurt the pain was too much I didn't know what to do; then I came out of my trance and let the noise flood through me. "Get out of here god dam it!!! They're going to kill you!!!! Please son leave now!!!" my dad said; it took me a while to process what he just said.

After I realized what he had said I pulled myself from the ground bolted out the door. I ran for my life, tears still draining out of my eyes still wondering what happened. I rushed into the forest hoping that I wouldn't get caught; I wasn't ready to die yet.

I was in the middle of the forest not knowing which route to take. I had no time to decide so I let my legs decide where to go. I went with the route on my left not knowing where this would lead too.

As I ran into the darkness my head felt light everything sarted to go around in circles. My run turned into jog; then I started to walk as if I was drunk. I came to a hault everything was spinning. I could feel my legs weakening, everything was a blur, my eyes started to burn and my back was in complete agony. I could feel my eyes closing, I felt my body falling I whisperd "help."

As my last breath left my body before I Became semi-conscious. As I lie there I could see my surroundings everything was still a blur. But I could make out what everything was. Then my eyes done something that they have never done before. It was like I could see everything in thermal vision.

I saw two men running in my direction so I tried to hide but my body was too weak. I felt someone pick me up from underneath my arms. They dragged me to where there was more vegetation to hide behind. Once we were out of sight I felt a sudden drop I moaned in pain "sshhhhh" the stranger said. I looked up and saw a women above me seeing if the two men had gone yet.

I could hear their heavy footsteps come to a halt, the leaves started crunching towards us. "Where the hell could that kid of got too" one of the men said in annoyance. The other replied with " I don't know but if we don't find that boy the boss will kill us". There was a wolf howl in the distance "come on we have to go, this isn't our territory" the man said with a worried facial expression, "god dam it what are we going to tell the boss now?" the other questioned. The guy shrugs his shoulders and they ran in the same direction that they where heading when they came to find me.

I slowly rolled on my back to see the woman crouched over me "hi I'm Ashley." Her voice had a relaxing tone to it "people like them only want to kill people like us" she blurted out; I looked at her with a knotted forehead. She was in her early twenties, she was average height for a woman. But I couldn't help notice was my thermal vision could see her as a darkened blue colour. When both of the men that where chasing me had an orange colour. I assume what this is meant represent their heat radiating out of their body.

Her hand touched my face it was ice cold at first. I thought maybe she's cold because it was a cold night; but then I thought surely some parts of her body would be warm due to the amount of clothes she had on. "wow your eyes are glowing" she told me, Ashley was fascinated with how my eyes were glowing in the dark, again I didn't know what she was talking about maybe it was a bad chat up line. For a second it got awkward because she looked at them for too long, she turned away obviously so I couldn't see her blush.

My back started to really hurt I could feel something push its self out of my skin a squealed in pain. It was slowly ripping through my skin, like someone has just put a long thick sword in my back that went through to the other side. I was screaming as loud as I could and every muscle in my body started to tense.

The back of my t-shirt started to rip, it felt like the sword stopped going through me, I started to shake. All Ashley did was stand back and watch me go through with the pain, as she gasped and was shaken about what just happened. My eyes got lazy and they started to shut everything was disappearing. I felt my eyelids slowly blinding me then all I could see was darkness.
