Do or Die

Chapter 7: Minigame

A zombie appeared from the forest. Leon saw it and took a shot. Without a silencer, it was heard by everyone in the vicinity. The three looked around as Darwin saw Leon on top of the supermarket.

Leon looked around and saw Darwin looking right at him. He signaled him by pointing in the direction where the zombies are coming from as Leon went back to the forest and saw ten zombies. He took four shots one at a time as he figured that it can only take five per shot. He removed the mag and put down the sniper rifle as he refill the mag with ammo from the packs.

When he was doing that, Darwin looked at where Leon pointed and Ruth was fighting them with her bamboo practice sword.

"Aster stay back! Let us deal with them!"

"O- okay Darwin!"

Darwin charged in as Aster backed up while Leon finished reloading and began to shoot the remaining zombies as Ruth and Darwin helped out. As for Draco, he went outside and saw the two fighting zombies as he joins in, charging at them.

More zombies came from the forest. They were slow and got killed by the three of them as Leon support them.

"There's too many of them!" Leon said as he shoots and reloads as he is out of bullets as he reloads.

"This is never-ending!" Draco said as he sliced off a zombie in half.

"You said it but this is great for close combat just like hours ago!" Darwin smashed a zombie's head.

"Yep! It's also the best way if we get better melee weapons!" Ruth side sliced off a zombie.

We cut back to Leon who he finished reloading as he grabbed the handle of the receiver and pulled back and forth as he looked into the sight, seeing more zombies coming out of it.

"Damn!"

He shot off some rounds and repeated what he is done.

Five minutes have passed and they are slowly coming in numbers as the three back off while Leon shoots the zombie's head until they all stopped moving.

"What happened?"

"I don't know Ruth but they stopped. If they still marched towards us and reach the camp it would be big trouble."

Someone from another country got teleported out of a prison.

Back to the topic at hand, Leon sighed in relief as he grabbed his helmet, and brings the sniper rifle even the ammo with him while some ammo are in his pockets.

Draco told the guys that there are a ton of food and water inside storage as Darwin told him to grab it later. He told Ruth to grab the food from the trunk as Aster helped Ruth and they will have a meal for tonight as we see Leon walking towards the campsite.

Some minutes later Darwin and Aster were cooking dinner while Ruth, and Draco, practiced using their melee weapons. Leon on the other hand was sitting down, checking the sniper rifle as the ammo was inside the back of Ruth's car and has ammo in his pockets.

It was done, the food is ready and the food was...

'Let your imagination do the trick.'

They all sat down near the campfire where the food is being cooked. Fortunately, the campsite had some bowls and spoons in a tent and so they shared their food equally as they removed their football helmets and began eating.

The four were in awe of the food that Darwin and Aster made, even the two of them were shocked that it was delicious.

'Notice Cooking Mastery (Level 1) Has been given to Darwin and Aster. Difficulty rises by two.'

They finished their meals and put the bowls in front of the campfire as they began to talk about the mystery of the school's storage room, the vault, and even the horde that happened ten minutes ago.

"Everything feels strange. In a zombie apocalypse, you would have to survive with sweat and blood but for us, it seems the opposite." Darwin said.

They have no idea what is going on, they just thought it was just a coincidence, having bad luck but as for Leon, he pondered something absurd and told them.

"I think, in another country, someone is helping us but having he or she will get a drawback."

Everyone went silent, tense air filled the campsite as Darwin replied.

"Like in a webcomic? Solo Leveling?"

"Yeah I guess but different. For some reason, I know how to use the sniper rifle without prior training or experience."

"Now that you mention that Leon, me, and Aster didn't even make something so delicious ever since we started cooking. Is this coincidence or,"

"Something else. Whoever that person from another country is from, they are helping us and they will get drawbacks."

"I bet it's Korea."

"Can I interrupt for a minute because Aster fell asleep on Darwin's shoulder?" Draco pointed at Aster.

All of them looked at Aster, Leon thought to himself, "She is pretty when she is sleeping."

"Alright, we'll discuss this tomorrow. Let's hit the sack and go to Leon's sister."

All of them agreed and went to their respective tents as Darwin carries Aster to the girl's tent.

Somewhere at a campus...

"Run! We need to get out of here-" He screamed in pain, getting bitten by 4 zombies. In front of him were other students, just watching and didn't run away but one student made the smart choice to run and get out of there.

"Why are they standing there?! Stupid idiots!" She said in her thoughts.

"Even though it's nighttime, the whole campus is in chaos because a group of students rioted for rations and they killed the leader and vice leader at the gym."

She was out of the gym when the door was opened. She looked around and there were no zombies or students seen. She decided to run away from the campus completely.

She kept running and running, almost out of breath she fell on her knees due to dehydration because the students from back then drank all the water. The place was in chaos before the virus began to spread but after some teamwork, it was peaceful til it happened.

She lay down on the sidewalk like a couple of zombies emerged from a building nearby. Her location was in a city, a place where a horde may pass by but a gunshot was heard.

"Rescue that civilian!"

"Sir yes sir huha!"

Two soldiers went out of the vehicle and ran toward the damsel in distress as they carry her inside the humvee and the person manned with the turret finished the zombies. One person checked to see if she is okay and it was only dehydration as he told the other soldiers. In front of the seat, someone grabbed a watering can and gave it to the soldier, opened it, and slowly raised her head and the water can near to her mouth as it slowly drips down to her mouth. Slowly but surely, she coughed a bit and fell asleep.

"I guess that campus is done for. The Commander was right about the whole chaos thing."

"Hey, less talk start shooting. Zombies up ahead. Take them down and let's get a move on."

He started the engine, turret firing at the zombies, and went their merry way.
