Frost
We hop out of the chopper and are greeted with the smell of smoke, iron, copper, and most of all death. The scent of death permeates the air like a thick fog, but what we see is even more abnormal. Everything is... Normal. Well as normal as everything can be when all the people are missing.
"Viper 1-1 to Eagles Nest, we've made landfall and we don't have any visuals on casualties, wrecks, or anything," Wraith calls in, once he's done he says aloud to us, "where the hell is everyone?"
"I do not know," Glaz answers his question with a nervous look on his face.
"I think we should split into groups," I think aloud, "and meet at the evac site in," I look at at my watch, "5 hours," feeling everyone's nervous energy set my nerves aflame themselves.
"Oh yeah that's a brilliant idea Frost, why not just fire a flare into the air while we're at it to attract everyone in the A.O. to our location," Caveira smarts off her contempt for the Canadian showing through.
"Yeah well what's your idea?" I snap back.
"I think we should investigate why there aren't any people out and about," Caveira answers with a smirk.
"Ladies it isn't my job to play babysitter but we may have a guest so let's act like the professionals that we are, да?" Glaz quips pointing to a shape in the distance growing larger.
"Alright you two save this for back at base, right now we have work to do," Wraith says walking forward not looking back. I look at Cav with a smirk and she just bares her teeth and snaps at the air like a dog once then follows our self-appointed leader then I do with Glaz bringing up the rear.
Once the figure is close enough I see that the person has a proximity collar on them, and tell Wraith and he stops and raises his gun.
"Ma'am I gonna have to ask you to stop right there," he says firmly but the woman doesn't stop. The closer she comes we can hear her wails of pain and agony, then we see that she has her arms wrapped around her abdomen.
"Ma'am I'm gonna tell you one more time, stop or I will have to use force," Wraith tells the woman more firmly this time. Then we hear the unmistakable sound of a proximity bomb beeping as she gets within a few dozen feet of us.
"Bomb! Glaz you know what to do!" He shouts and the woman's head explodes into a rapidly evaporating mist with bits of grey and white matter splattering on the ground behind the fallen body.
"Tango down, keep moving," Glaz says nonchalantly like he just shot a can off a log.
"Alright this is were we split up, Cav and Glaz you go northeast, Nøkk do what you do best, and Frost and I will go northwest and search for everyone," Wraith says and everyone nods, going their separate ways.
Wraith
Frost and I go into a hotel and try the elevator but to no avail.
"Looks like we're taking the stairs," I say and Frost just rolls her eyes. We start walking to the stairwell and halfway up she speaks up.
"You remembered what happened a couple nights ago when-"
"When you woke up in my bed? Yeah I remember, what about it?" I ask taking the steps two at a time till we get to the second floor.
"I just wanted to know if I said anything that sober me might regret," she says going through the stairwell door.
*"I've always liked you, Gaege. Even when you were a recruit,"*
"Nope, nothing. You were just mumbling about how you hated the MRE's that you were given when you were in Saudi Arabia, and I laughed my ass off when you stumbled on your own feet when your tried to get up from the couch," I lie searching the rooms for anyone.
