Chapter 4."The night I will never forget"

You quickly thanked boss for the uniform and for the kind words.He smiled and let you go. You still had about an hour before the shift officially starts. Holding the box with your uniform you went up to the second floor and made your way to the locker room. Out of the corner of your eye you noticed a shadow that was following your every step but when you turned around there was...nothing.The halls were silent,only electricity buzzing in the lightbulbs.Shivers ran up and down your spine,you felt cold.You stood in one place ,listening to every rustle.The place was very old and had the mind of its own.Almost as if there were eyes in the walls,looking at you,observing your every move.Few minutes passed and you remembered that you actually have to change into something more professional-looking.You mumbled something to yourself and practically ran to the lockers. All the restrooms were locked.Strange,considering there are seven people still in the building.You looked around,making sure that there is no one around. Taking off your hoody you felt how cold it actually was.You shuddered,while opening the box. Inside,there was a complete outfit which consisted of baby-blue man's shirt with a ¾ sleeves,big baggy black pants with a belt so they won't fall off of you and a...hat?Yeah, a hat, the same one that Mike was wearing with "night guard" written on it.
Turns out you zoned out for some time because the only thing that got you back to reality was Scott,who walked in on you half naked.
-OH Holy God!-He immediately turned around,facing the entrance to the locker room.-Why would you stand here like that!?-You heard man's voice tremble,as he was visibly shaken by that.-You're lucky it was me...I ,very fortunately for you, can't see that well!
You were convulsively pulling on a shirt that was way too big for you.
-I'm sorry!I'm sorry!I'm sorry!-Your hands started shaking uncontrollably while buttoning up.-I'm so sorry Scott!
The man sighed and turned around,knowing you had at least your shirt on.
-It's fine,stop panicking-He avoided any type of "eye" contact,but, in his case it was more of a "dial" contact.His hands were shaking as well.He went right pass you up to his locker and grabbed his bag.-Meet me at the "meetings" office.You must know the rules of the "game".-Scott retreated back to the "Party Hall".
Your face was beet-red.It's not like you have never been naked Infront of a guy  before.But Scott was way older and also he is one of your co-workers.You felt volnurable around him.Hell,around all of them.You shook your head,rolled up your sleeves and put on that little stupid-looking hat.But,if that is required by this place,you have to obey.
Few minutes later,as soon as you made sure your face was not red anymore, you hurried to the "meetings" office. You found Scott sitting at the desk with a thick book in his hands .You couldn't quite make out what was the name of it,his fingers covering most of it.
-Scott?-you said quietly ,standing in the doorway.
-Come on in.-He said dryly.
You hurried to take a seat next to him.Even sitting down Scott felt gigantic next to you.His 6'4 frame for some reason made you feel a little more insecure.You looked at his rotary-phone-head a few times,before man finally looked up from his book.
-Interested in what's underneath?-You sworn you could almost hear a grinning expression forming on his faceunder the mask.-Anyway,the reason I called you here is to get familiar with the camera set up.-He pushed a few buttons on a tablet that was laying on the table.You saw multiple icons with the names of the rooms.Then,Scott swiped right and the window with the main stage opened.You finally saw three robots in the center ,holding different music instruments.You recognized Freddy-the big brown bear,that was holding a microphone in one of his mechanical paws.To his right was Chica-big,yellow,creepy-looking,chicken-like animatronic holding even more creepy cupcake monster.Her bib read "Let's eat".On the left of Freddy's was Bonnie.Big purple rabbit with bright pink eyes.For some reason you thought that Bonnie was the most "normal-looking" and "children-friendly" out of all of them.Then Scott interrupted your thoughts.-Foxy is hiding in his "Pirate's cove" room.Beware of him.That bastard is quick and won't waste an opportunity to chomp off your limbs.-He placed his hand on your shoulder.-You still have time to leave...It's not too late...-You heard a note of concern in his voice.
-I am going to be fine.Thank you for showing me how to use that thing.-You tried to squeeze out a smile but that didn't really work out.
-It is my job.No need to thank me.-He shrugged his shoulders,letting go of yours.-But,tonight you will have to work on your own.-The man sighed.-Those are the rules.Also,see those buttons on each of the walls?Push them to close doors only after shining a light into the halls.We kind of have a limited power source here.Close the doors only if you see the animatronics or hear very loud stomping!As the week goes on they are going to get more active.Tonight you might not experience anything superior from them.Bonnie might...-You heard a loud bell ringing signalizing that it is officially the beginning of the nightmare.Your eyes widened,hands started shaking,your heart was trying to jump out of your throat.-See ya!Hopefully!-Scott zoomed off in the unknown direction.
You tried to calm yourself down,just as Scott was doing when you first encountered him.
-Everything is fine,I'm fine...It's fine,I'm fine...- you were saying, looking through the cameras.All the animatronics were still on their stage.The sigh of relief left your chest.The time felt like it slowed down.Everything around was silent for a bit,only annoying buzzing of electricity taking you back to reality and being alert.You checked both hallways,exactly as Scott told you to.Checking the power you noticed that it was still pretty much okay:80%.Suddenly,you remembered about the coffee beans that Fritz gave you.Smiling at the realization you got a few more and popped them into your mouth.You actually hated sweet things but for some reason you liked those.Maybe because somebody actually gave you a sign of attention?What about Chris then?He is a nice guy and all,but you've literally known him for a day and a quarter,so...It was too early to make any further assumptions.
2AM. You checked the cameras once more and noticed that now Bonnie was looking directly at it.
-...the hell?-you mumbled, staring at the footage in disbelief.How can it move?Why?! Well,Scott already told you that they were in some kind of a "free-roaming" mode at night. But that didn't make it any less creepier.His eyes were focused on the camera movement.It almost seemed like they were following its trajectory.
3AM. Bonnie's gone. You frantically started clicking at the icons with the names of the rooms in order to find where the almost 7 feet tall animatronic had gone. You gasped audibly when you saw him standing in the north wing in the middle of the hallway staring intently at the camera. You felt every single hair stand up on your body while the robot stayed motionless. His gaze felt almost human-like. Almost as if Bonnie knew you were watching.
4AM. Two more hours.Two more hours of this nightmare and you will be able to leave.You checked the power source: 45%.That's bad.That's really really bad.You flashed both hallways once again and didn't find anyone there.Checking the cameras,you found Bonnie back at the "Party Hall" standing in between the tables.At least he wasn't getting anywhere near you.
5AM. With one hour and 20% left you started slightly panicking.You checked every single room on the cameras and didn't find the purple bunny but you found that Freddy himself was now facing the camera.You flashed both halways once again and there he was.Looking directly at you the gigantic robot opened its jaws.You hurried to the button,closing both doors at the same time.The hallways were dark but you could still see the glimpse of the menacing pink eyes looking through the glass. You held your breath for as long as you could until the power went off.First you heard something shut down,then the lights went out. the doors opened and you heard a lullaby play.But that wasn't Bonnie.The eyes that were looking through the doorway were ice-blue.Freddy.Is that the end?You couldn't even make it through the first night? But the Holy bell signalized that the morning has finally come.You fell to your knees,looking at the robot making its way back to the main stage.
-I...made it?-you asked yourself barely breathing.-I'm still alive?
You looked around and saw sun rising in the distance.You have never been happier in your life to see the sun rise from the horizon. Today it meant that you succeded. You heard footsteps coming from down the hallway.Getting up,you shook off the dust from your knees.Mike stepped into the office holding a walkie-talkie.
-Succesful.-Was the only thing that he said before going back to whatever direction he just came from.You were looking at the back of the man retreating into the depths of the corridors.That night was the night where it all began.You would never forget it.
