Overwhelmed

Eventually, the small family left their home. Dressed in their most formal and traditional attire, they walked about the streets. Two guards on either side of the trio, it was natural that they received many looks and whispers amongst crowds; even more so with their reputation and raging popularity amongst the public.

The reason for this outing? A public reminder. A reminder that they were a family. This outing was planned by Sojiro Shimada to further convince the public that they were a lovely family that was to be admired by the masses. Even Genji failed to miss these outings, ever. He loved the attention and flirting glances he'd get. Hanzo... couldn't say the same. He felt sweaty, uncomfortable, fearful, and most of all? He felt like he was inadequate. He never showed this of course, not enough to be noticed, but he sometimes could feel his muscles twinge as he worried how he looked. Looking in reflections as much as possible and constantly finding new ways to subtly fix his appearance without seeming self obsessed.

The family's first stop was a lovely park, they had a picnic planned just so that pictures of them could be taken by the public. Their father was smart in the worst ways unfortunately, he was raising popularity before Hanzo's big competitions so that the public would be in their families favor, also bringing attention to his company that provided a multitude of services. Hanzo glanced around the park, hesitantly taking dainty bites from the small, somewhat cute looking sandwich. It was one of those cute cream and strawberry sweet sandwiches, and he had picked it himself after his father had laid out the blanket on the soft grassy ground. They all sat on the pastel blanket, it contrasted cleanly with their monochrome clothes. Hanzo and Genji adorning their matching, simple yet elegant and clearly expensive garments. Their father wore something slightly more complex, but still. It seemed as though they were almost posing for pictures, although Hanzo was just following along with what he knew his father would want him to look like in the press, and Genji is just being... Genji. He wasn't appearing elegant in the slightest, but at least he wasn't doing anything obscene.. This time.

Hanzo caught a glimpse of a foreign looking hat, above some bushes. Inspecting it as he continued to barely even touch his sandwich. Instead he opted to focus on his tea, watching as a tanned boy approached the hat resting upon the rough surface of the trimmed bushes, retrieving it and placing it back atop the crown of his head. The older brother within the family gazed upon his features, not used to seeing a foreigner, who he chalked up to being a tourist, in this park when it wasn't even the week of which the lovely cherry blossoms sprouted. It piqued his interest, so much so he couldn't seem to tear his eyes off him. His brunette, jaw length hair, and overgrown sideburns. He had some facial hair trailing around his face, but it hadn't quite grown enough to be considered more than stubble and sideburns yet. His eyes were soft, despite his rugged appearance. Clothes that had clearly been worn in, and even cowboy boots on his feet. The spurs almost caused Hanzo to drop his serious and collected appearance, withholding his chuckle of amusement as his broad shoulders slumped. He somehow felt relaxed, unfortunately, he seemed to relax too much as he finally noticed genji sprawled out starfish pose on the light blue blanket beneath them.

"Hanzoooooooo"

He could only furrow his brows in response, his brother had gotten bored within the fifteen minutes that they'd settled into the park. Unfortunately, his annoying brother was not done yet.

"I'm boredddddddddd..."

Their father ignored him, as if he didn't exist, as hanzo couldn't do the same, however, he reached into Genji's pocket and opened his phone, slowly putting it back into his brother's hands.

"Just do something on your phone, we'll leave soon.."

Hanzo would usually act more sternly with his brother, but the public was staring at them. The glints of cameras affecting the way he presented himself. He had to appear soft, for that was how the public liked him to be. The more quiet, mysterious, and kind he appeared, the more the public would talk about him and the more money his father managed to rake in like leaves in fall.

This is a short-ish chapter due to my lack of ideas, unfortunately i dont think my stories through and need heavy inspo when it comes to writing– but hopefully this can hold you all off until my next update. When will hanzo have his first proper interaction with this american?? Who knows ngl. Anyways, Byee!!! -N
