Chapter 3: Jay's Party

Scene 1:

It's Sunday, 5 am. Kaz just woke up.

Kaz: ... Come on, Kaz. Just forget the whole thing. Forget her. Forget all the universes... (checks clock) 5 am? Guess I could go back to sleep. And probably think about it again... Or, I could go do something productive!

[He gets up, makes his bed, gets out of his room, and starts doing the chores. An hour goes by, and by 6 am, he's already done all his chores. But his family is not up yet, so he spends another hour doing Lars' part. Mom, dad and Lars wake up at 7 am. They all go to the kitchen, and see the breakfast already done]

Dad: What the hell is this?

Kaz: I made you guys breakfast.

Dad: Wow. That's great, but why?

Kaz: No reason.

Mom: I'm impressed with you, Kaz. And the whole house looks so clean... What happened?

Kaz: I did all the chores.

Lars: Even my part?

Kaz: Yep.

Mom: Oh, no no no. I see what's going on here. I know what you're trying to do, Kaz. You woke up early to do chores, just to kiss up to us, and see if we end your punishment. Not gonna happen.

Kaz: No. I really wasn't trying to do that. I just did the chores because it's Sunday, and I wanna spend as much time as possible outside.

Dad: So why did you do Lars' part?

Kaz: Because when I finished, it was still 6 am, and I got bored.

Lars: Bruh, you woke up at 5?

Kaz: Yeah.

Lars: Wait, so now I don't have to do chores... Right?

Mom: ... Alright. I'm gonna let this one slide. But if you do your brother's chores again, you're gonna be doing chores for 2 months. Are we clear?

Kaz: Yep. Next time, I'll only do half the job.

Mom: Great. Now if you excuse me, I gotta go do my hair before breakfast gets cold.

[Mom goes to the bathroom]

Dad: I'll go get the mail.

[Dad leaves]

Lars: So now that they're not here, you can be honest: What do you want?

Kaz: What you talking about?

Lars: You did my half of the chores, which means you clearly want something. What is it?

Kaz: I don't want anything.

Lars: Are you for real? So you just did my chores for no reason?

Kaz: Yep. But don't get your hopes up, I can't do that again.

Lars: What the fuck has gotten into you?

Kaz: Nothing. I just wanna spend time outside. We're too used to comfort. That's Gen Z's biggest problem. You and me both know that.

Lars: ... Is this about Lynn?

Kaz: No. And I'm done with her, so I'd appreciate if you never mentioned her name again. Meanwhile, have some breakfast, and then go outside and enjoy life. That's my advice to you.

Lars: And you're not gonna have breakfast?

Kaz: I already did. See ya.

[Kaz leaves]

Lars: Huh. He only knows her for 2 days, and she already changed him.
