000. 1861, the arrivalOUTSIDE of the Salvatore Estate stood three men who were patiently awaiting the arrival of their guests. The eldest of the three men was Giuseppe Salvatore, the head of the Salvatore household and the father of the two younger men, Stefan and Theodore Salvatore.
On his left stood Stefan Salvatore, the older twin brother of Theodore. He was wearing a light brown suit and had his hair parted to the side nicely. He fidgeted on his foot as he watched the dirt path, anticipating the arrival of the Pierce sisters.
On his right stood Theodore Salvatore, the youngest sibling out of all the Salvatores. He was wearing a navy blue suit and his dark brown hair was slicked back. His light blue eyes darted around carelessly, already bored of standing outside and wanting nothing more but to go back inside to read.
Giuseppe cleared his throat to get the attention of his sons. Once he saw he had their attention, he reminded, "Don't forgot to treat them with the upmost respect. They have traveled a long way and are mourning their parents. Do not make this situation worse for them. Do you understand?"
"Yes, father," Stefan quickly replied, hoping to please their father.
Theodore rolled his eyes subtly, but the moment Giuseppe's eyes were on him, he agreed, "Of course, father, I would never want to cause them any more pain."
Happy with the replies, Giuseppe nodded in satisfaction. He opened his mouth to speak again only to get cut off by the sound of hooves approaching. Instantly, his attention was on the carriage. He quickly straightened up and gave his sons one more look before placing a welcoming smile onto his face.
Theodore wanted to roll his eyes at his father, but didn't want to risk facing his wrath so he quickly looked towards where the carriage was and smiled.
Not before long, the carriage came to a stop. Theodore watched as the door was pushed open and a dark skinned women stepped out of the carriage. It was obvious to him that this women was not either of the Pierce sisters. In fact, he was sure that this had to be their handmaiden. She was clearly wearing a type of uniform that others would not be caught dead wearing unless they worked for someone.
His thought was proven correct when the women held out her hand and helped another female out of the carriage. He would be lying if he didn't say she was stunning. The female had curly brunette hair that was tied up into a bun and chestnut brown eyes that seemed to glint with mischief. She was wearing a beautiful pale green dress and had a small hat that covered part of the upper half of her face. The other noticeable thing was the beautiful amulet she was wearing. To him, it was clearly the centerpiece of it all.
Before anyone could move, the brunette moved to the side and another female exited after her. For a moment, Theodore couldn't breath. It was like the sight of this women took all his breathe away. To him, she was otherworldly. Unlike her sister, her hair was a lighter brown, almost caramely in a way and her eyes, god her eyes, looked like someone splashed two colors together and created the prettiest swirl to ever exist. It was the perfect mixture of blue and green, making him feel like he could drown in her eyes all day and not care. She was wearing a violet dress that seemed to compliment her skin color so very well. He noticed that she too was wearing a beautiful necklace with a stone at the very center of it.
Theodore was quickly snapped out of his own thoughts when his father moved forward to welcome the sisters.
"Welcome to the Salvatore Estate. I hope your trip here wasn't too rough," Giuseppe began talking, gesturing for some maids to go grab the girls' luggage.
"Not at all," the brunette replies with a thankful smile, "The trip was quite peaceful."
"That's wonderful," Giuseppe accepted, pleased with her answer.
"Allow me to introduce myself." The female curtsied and said, "My name is Katherine Pierce and this is my younger sister Irene." As she said that, she gestured to the women next to her, which in turn caused the women to curtsy respectfully. "We thank you for your hospitality and for allowing us to live with you for the time being."
"It is of no worries, Miss Pierce," Giuseppe replied as he waved off her thanks. "This is my youngest son, Theodore," He introduced as he gestured to the right, "And this is his older twin brother, Stefan."
"It is a pleasure to meet you both," Irene spoke softly as she gave them a soft smile.
Theodore instantly walked forward only to stop in front of her — Irene Pierce, the women who unknowingly captured his attention the moment his eyes landed on her. He noticed the way her eyes widened in shock, but he couldn't stop himself. Gently, ever so gently, he grabbed her right hand and kissed the top of it, never taking his eyes off her. "It's a pleasure to meet you, my lady." He couldn't help the smile that came to his face when he noticed the light blush that covered her cheeks.
Giggling softly, Irene replied, "Please, call me Irene."
And that was the moment the prey fell for the predator, unknowingly giving a silent promise to one day become the same predator he fell for.

the only thing i can say is that the allure of the doppelgänger is strong and, in this case, dangerous.
