Why the fuck is everything so bright? Am I back at that place?

My eyes were burning from the brightness, but this time it wasn't black shadows surrounding me. I was in my hospital room. Everything was in clear view, from the white door in front of me to the beeping machines next to my bed to the white orchids in a vase on my nightstand.

I attempted to stand up for a better look, but a stabbing pain in my ribs prevented me from doing so. When I finally collapsed back onto my pillow, I sighed in agony. I felt like one arm was carrying more weight than the other, and when I lifted the blanket I discovered that my left arm was in a cast. My ribs were already broken, one of my legs was in a cast, the other was in a knee brace, and now I have a broken arm to boot.

With my limited movement, I tried to search around for my phone, I had to call Henry.

Good one Mia. Instead of calling over your doctors, you're calling Henry first.

But before I could even find it, the door flung open. And that familiar face walked in.

Tiredness overcame Freya, and she promptly fell asleep in one of the waiting room chairs.

Demeter was drowning her troubles in either TikTok or music in an attempt to take her mind off things. Her best friend, Victoria, was calling her every hour to see if she was okay.

Mia's mom, Val, finally gave up and went home, leaving a message for Demeter to call her as soon or if her daughter woke up.

After determining that Henry was not responsible for Mia's accident, the police released him and began looking for Josh.

Henry pushed himself back home to freshen up before returning to the hospital.

But as soon as he stepped inside, he knew something was off; Kal should have been there to greet him.

When he noticed the back door was ajar, he hurried into the kitchen and grabbed a knife.

He cautiously stepped outside and saw a woman with raven hair searching the garden. He was spotted by Kal, who began to run in his direction. Henry's guardian instinct kicked in, and he pushed the cuddly bear behind him while clenching the knife. The woman didn't seem too bothered that Kal ran back, so she kept searching. Henry grabbed the woman by the arm and flung her around to make sure she saw the knife he was holding.

" Woah dude, what the fuck?". Anya jerked away from Henry's grip, astounded and slightly frightened.

"Anya? And why the bloody hell are you even here? " Henry put the knife on the grass as the sudden realisation hit him.

"I'm trying to find out what happened to Mia!" Aware that the solution was staring her in the face, she gave an answer, though she maintained her distance from the towering man.

"Do you know anything about Josh?" Henry's eyes were brimming with both hope and fury at the same time.

"I have no fucking idea who Josh is!" The raven-haired shrieked in desperation as she looked around.

"But I do remember how strange Mia was in the weeks leading up to the accident." She spoke further, her gaze now fixed on Henry's deep blue eyes.

"Let's head inside." At this, Anya prodded him further. "You look dangerous with a sword, so I'll take the knife." She used only two fingers to pick up the knife from the ground, and she kept it well out of her reach.

Anya sat down next to Henry on the sofa and filled him in on everything that had happened, specifically focusing on what had unfolded in the coffee shop.

The shaking in her legs had not stopped, and she was now picking at her fingernails. Henry, being the expert in body language that he is, quickly realised that there was more to the story than what she was telling him. Anya, on the other hand, was thinking about whether or not she should tell Henry what she knew. Mia had previously requested that they keep quiet about Lucy. However, in this case, speaking up might mean the difference between life and death. She hadn't realised it at the time, but Lucy had been the incentive for her to investigate their place.

"But surely there's more to it than that." Henry gave Anya a stern look as he attempted to take in everything that she had just said while he listened intently to what she had to say.

Even though Anya fought hard against herself, she eventually gave up. The life of her closest friend was in danger. "Remember Mia's accident on set?"

Anya filled him in on everything that had happened, and she also revealed that she and Freya had been aware of Lucy's threats the entire time.

"What the fuck?! Why didn't you tell me anything?! Hell, why didn't you say anything to the police?!" Henry jumped off the sofa and began pacing back and forth, clearly shocked by what he had just heard. Concerned, Kal began following him.

"Mia asked us not to tell you, and since it's your job on the line, we decided to wait to tell the police until we'd had a chance to talk to you." Anya was so terrified that she could not bear to look at him, so instead she focused her attention on her fingernails as she picked at them. Her main fear was that she would be the one to give the facts to him all by herself. However, given that it had come to this point, she was left with no other choice.

"Right now I don't give a rat's ass about my job or reputation! It's Mia that I care about. She is my priority! And now you're telling me that my psycho ex might be behind this? And all of this happening under my nose?" Henry was still incapable of understanding what had just been explained to him, but one thing could be said with absolute certainty. At this point, he was in a rage. And would do anything in his power to ensure that Mia is both alive and unharmed.

"Damn, you really don't learn do ya?" The familiar brunette scoffed as she closed and locked the door behind her.
