PERCY  WAS NOT ENJOYING his first 'vacation' to Rome. First, they almost get drowned by a bunch of hags, save Nico from two evil twin ballerina giants, lose his girlfriend, find her, and then fall into an endless hell hole. Sounds relaxing, does it not?

Now, Percy was flailing around like a mad man as he tried to grab his girlfriend. Debris were hurling down above them, and he didn't want her to get hurt. Well, anymore than she already was.

He thought about the remaining six demigods. They were probably beating themselves up for not being to quick, or not paying attention, or something like that. Percy understood. He had been like that his whole life. Every time someone died in his sake, or from protecting him, he would always blame himself. After Beckendorf, Michael Yew, Silena.....He never could forgive himself. If he had never been born, this war would have never happened. But, remember, this is coming from a guy who's fatal flaw is loyalty. Talk about harsh.

He finally managed to grab hold of Annabeth's waist. He pulled her tight against his body. She was not getting out of his grasp this time.

Over the high pitched sequel of the wind, he heard sobbing, and realized it was coming from his girlfriend.

Whispering in her ear, he hugged her tight. "Hey, it's okay. We're gonna be fine." Although he wasn't so sure himself.  He looked up, and saw a huge chunk of asphalt heading straight towards them.   His sea green eyes widened. He twisted so Annabeth was below him, and grunted as his back took full hit. Searing pain shot up his back.

Annabeth cried harder as again and again, he took full hit. His head was pounding and he could feel blood seeping through his thin orange T-shirt.  Some of the smaller objects he was able to dodge, such as tires and car doors, but the bigger items just were to quick.  A fire-red Ferrari shot past him, and disappeared into the darkness below. A minute later he heard a bone rattling CRASH. A horrifying thought struck him. They were nearing the bottom.

He made a spit-second decision and turned again. Annabeth removed her head from his chest and looked at him. Her  bloodshot eyes widened as she realized what he was going to do. He was again, gong to take full hit. He was most likely going to die.

"No, Percy! I'm not going to let you do this! You are going to die!" Thank you, Miss madam obvious. She squirmed and fought, trying to get out of his iron grip. He didn't let go. He was never going to let Annabeth go, never again.

I love you Annabeth, was his last thoght before they slammed into the rocky ground and he was swallowed by darkness.
