Danielle's p.o.v
It's been two months since my first few signs of the Mutagen inside me. But it hasn't really affected my life. I've been getting weekly tests done. My body is still fighting it, but Donnie said the Mutagen is getting stronger, which I have no clue what that means for my life.
I don't want to live if I become some freak. Not saying the turtles are freaks.. but you know.
Today is also... my birthday, basically the day I dread all year long. Since my mother was not home much for my childhood my birthday never went to well. The turtles have me celebrate 'mutation day' because they know I hate birthdays.
I tried to tell them it was the same thing but there was no getting through to them, I just let it happen. It wasn't worth the fight.
"HAPPY MUTATION DAY!" all the turtles scream at me when Casey and I walk into my living room. Yep, they broke in at night.
A smile comes across my face. "Mutation day?" Casey asks me confused.
"Oh, it's my birthday." I say turning to Casey as I walk over to hug the turtles.
"What!? And you thought I didn't wanna know this?" Casey asks me.
"She doesn't like celebrating it. Don't worry it took a year for us to find out when hers was." Leo says hugging me which makes me smile.
"Why don't you like celebrating it?" Casey asks after I'm done with all 4 of my hugs. I assume Splinter is mediating back at the lair.
"I never had a good birthday as all child, since my mother was never home. It was just me alone on this day so it started to become a normal day for me." I shrug. "I don't mind not celebrating it, but they make me." I say looking back at the turtles who are walking to the kitchen. Casey comes closer to me and hugs me.
"You should have told me, you need a gift!" He said smiling. I punch him in the arm playfully. "Ow" He yelps.
'Oh right, Mutagen powers.' "Sorry sorry!" I say to him rubbing where I hit him. I give him a kiss as an apology.
"What are you 20 now?" He asks as the turtles come in.
"Yep 20." I say.
"Your such an old lady." I hear Raph say.
"Shut it Raph." I turn to see him smiling. Don't make me go all Mutagen on you." I say and laugh. He puts his hands up as in 'okay okay' and laughs too.
"Nah she's pretty young." Casey says. I look at him confused.
"What? How old are you?"
"20 about to turn 21 in... actually a week from today."
"21? What how were you a senior in highschool?"
"....I got held back in like 8th grade." He says smiling.
"I still wonder how you passed highschool." I say which makes him laugh.
We celebrate my 'mutation day' by me opening gifts and junk and then getting, of course, pizza. Which was totally fine with me, I don't like big celebrations.
We talk for a bit while we eat pizza. I get up after I'm done to collect the plates. As I grab the last one I turn for the sink. As I get halfway there I get a pain in my stomach. 'This isn't like a cramp, its 100 times worse.' I think to myself. Then I get get a huge pounding headache. I call for Leo.
"Leo!" I yell as I fall to my knees in tears. Everything on my body is starting to hurt. I hear running and he kneels beside me.
"Danielle what's wrong." I says nervously.
"It hurts."
"What does?" He asks me.
I look up at him. "Everything." He picks me up and runs to Splinter at the lair and I hear everyone else following.
Splinter hooks me up to everything again and sees the Mutagen grew. He takes out this liquid that was in a cabinet.
"I was afraid I'd have to use this."
"Why what is it?" Casey asks before I had the chance too. He's so worried about me. I feel bad for having him worry so much.
"It's a liquid that can stop the Mutagen but it may cause her to..." He stops talking.
"For me to what Splinter?" I ask him.
"you could die." He says. "But it's the only option."
The turtles look at me with sad eyes and so does Casey. After silence I say "Let's do this." And with that I'm saying 'goodbyes' to everyone.
"I don't wanna say goodbye guys. It's just a see you later." I say smiling. I don't even believe the words I'm saying. Am I really strong enough to survive this?
I make Splinter let all of them stay in the room. I hold Casey's hand as Splinter sticks me with a needle to put me asleep. After a minute of silence I become tired and lay myself down. I turn my head to all of and say "I'll be awake in a few hours to annoy you guys again." I get laughs as I smile myself. I put my hand on Casey's cheek and he leans in a kissing me on my forehead. Tears fall down my face as Casey leaves the room. I don't blame him, I wouldn't wanna be in here when I fell asleep either.
I turn my head back to staring at the ceiling and with that, I pass out, but not before thinking that it was the last time I could have seen all of them.
~ Time skip to the next day ~
I awake in Leo's room. My head is pounding and my vision is blurry. 'What the hell did Splinter do to me?' I think to myself... wait. I'm awake! What did he do to me? is the Mutagen all out of me?' All these questions rush to my head and fills me with excitement. I immediately jump out of bed which was a bad idea.
I stumble and fall. "ow." I say softly. my vision being blurry isn't helping the fact I have to walk. I call for Casey and I hear what sounds like Elephants running and the door comes crashing open.
Literally. Crashing open. The door gets pushed off its hinges. They all stop at the door and Casey helps me up and pulls me into a warm hug like he hasn't seen me in forever.
I know I could have not woken up but it doesn't seem that serious to me, because I did wake up.
The turtles all wait their turn to hug me and all the hugs last at least a minute long. I had to hold conversations while I was being hugged. After the hugs I get attacked with all these questions.
"How are you feeling?"
"how long do you think you were out?"
"Why were you on the floor?"
"Dizzy. i don't know a few hours? because I fell." I answer back which makes them all laugh. Hearing their laughs makes me know, I'll be ok.
