MISUNDERSTOOD HEROES"Bella!" "You still there?!" I suddenly hear through my earpiece. "Tonio? What's up?" I ask him, walking away from the pile of bodies. Now, I'm not a neat killer but I like to clean up my mess when I'm finished.
"What's up?! Is that all you've got to say?" he practically shouts until he suddenly laughs. "What's up," he repeats again.
"Jezus, since when did you become such a- douchebag?" I irritatedly speak up. "Uh, maybe since I've been informed that you've got a real human living inside you?" he starts shouting again as I freeze.
It's not that I forgot. Hell, it's the only thing that's been on my mind, this whole day. It's just that- how does he know already? My parents can't have told him already, right?
"What did you say?" I ask him, my voice a tone lower. I can hear him sigh from the other side. "They told me, Isabella." He explains. "I just don't understand how you managed to change their mind and still go on this mission," he tells me.
"Antonio, this is my life, I can't just simply give up on it because of this. What else am I supposed to do?" I try to explain to him.
"But you don't understand it, do you Bella, there's a real organism fucking living inside you," he repeats. "Don't you think I know that? I can handle this, I really can Tonio." I tell him. "But that's the thing Isabella! I know you can do this, you can fucking break into the white house without getting captured but that's not the point! The point is that this time you're not only bringing your own life at risk but your daughter's as well!" he sighs.
I can hear the grass beneath him rustling, noticing he has lowered himself. All I hear now is him sighing as I press the back of my palms against the pitch-black table in front of me, looking up at the big screen with 'loading' on it. "I need to stay focused." I remind myself.
"How do you even know it's going to be a girl? I'm pretty sure you can only tell by week fourteen, or so." I inform him.
"I- I don't know." he says.
"Alright let's focus back on the mission here. It finished loading and a little chip came out of it." I tell him, taking the stick out of the device.
I hear Antonio taking a big breath before he starts talking seriously again. "Take the chip, be sure to hide it somewhere safe," he tells me.
I do as told and slide the chip inside my sock while Antonio goes on. "You're going to want to open the next door on your left and take the stairs up. Then you'll walk into a big room and walk straight ahead, when you reach the balcony you will find Thomas and Victor."
"Noted," I tell him, sliding my knife back into my panties. Taking the door Antonio mentioned I eventually end up in the big room. It's dark, quiet, very quiet. Too quiet for my liking.
As I'm about to take my next steps my body suddenly stops. Something's wrong, I can feel it. I look up at the balcony to see if I can catch a glimpse of the guys but I don't see a thing.
When I want to continue my steps the door connecting this room to the hallway closes and makes a loud clicking sound. I'm smart enough to know I shouldn't turn around, nor move a single step ahead.
Millions of thoughts are going through my brain but you can't catch a sight of it looking at my body.
A shiver goes down my spine. Something's seriously wrong. Right then I notice that Antonio has been suspiciously quiet. I don't try to call for him, I know he won't answer. I don't even hear any outside noise coming from the earpiece so I know it's not on.
"It isn't very nice to hide in the shadows now, is it?" I whisper, knowing I'm not talking to myself. It takes a few seconds but eventually, someone speaks up.
"If it isn't Isabella Demon," a deep masculine voice speaks up from behind me. I can't see a thing since the only light that's filling the room is from the moon, shining through the balcony curtains.
"Didn't know my presence was special," I talk back, my eyes focused on the wind blowing the curtains. The same voice lets out a chuckle before I hear footsteps approaching me.
"I suggest you stay back," I warn, bringing my hand to the closest gun in sight. I normally would put a gun in the front of my pants but with my ongoing situation, I didn't think that would be the best idea. So instead I put it against my right hip.
The footsteps wisely stop their tracks. I don't make another sound or move an inch. I hate being left in the dark and not knowing what's going on.
"Perhaps if I switched on the lights you would prefer to have a conversation with me, Bella?" the husky voice speaks up again. A smirk starts forming on my lips.
"Why don't you take your chances?" I reply. It's silent for another minute or so before he starts talking again, this time not to me.
"Turn them on,"
In a matter of a second, the light turns on and I grasp my gun whilst turning around and aiming at whoever will stand behind me.
The second I'm able to see again I notice a tall man standing not even forty inches away from me. He has pitch-black hair and cold green eyes that match his black suit and the pair of Berluti's covering his feet.
From the corner of my eyes, I notice there being a whole army present in the room. They were awaiting me. Their guns were all pointing at me, however, I didn't bother taking my eyes off the man in front of me.
The longer I look at him, the more familiar his face gets. He's not holding any sort of weapon. His hands are in his pockets as he looks down at me with a grin on his lips. He's much taller than me, I assume he's around 5'11 feet.
I keep my gun pointed at his chest, I may be in the middle of this but this certainly hasn't been my first time.
"Missed me, supernova?"
