Memento Mori.

In cherry red and a font that was similar to Carelia Italic.

It honestly stood out to all the other tattoos on his skin. They were all pitch black, except for the sentence that once left my mouth.

And as I take a better look at his face, the memories from that one night, so many months ago, fill my brain again.

Looking to my right, I find Antonio busy on his tablet. As I quickly glance at the screen I notice it's past eleven at night. I originally planned on going to bed early tonight before my parents last minute told me I had to attend a ball tonight.

I wouldn't stay long though, even after being pregnant for almost three weeks, my parents were still shady about this whole pregnancy thing. No, I wasn't really looking forward to this too, but it is reality and they've got to learn how to move on with it.

I noticed how they started giving me calmer missions but I guess it's better than nothing. At the end of the day, someone's got to do the work either way.

I'm just relieved I finally got to get to a more crowded place today.

Antonio's voice suddenly interrupts my thoughts, as he briefly introduces me to tonight's victim.

"His name is Felix River, eighteen-year-old head assassin. He has his own execution group called River Enigma. They recently became active but have grown extremely during the short timespan of two years."

As he proceeds to tell me what I'm supposed to do, I look at the catchy picture of this so-called Felix.

"It's very important to find him as soon as possible, we think he's at the ball because he's planning on passing it on to someone else, so look out for him the second you step inside that building."

"Don't worry, I'm sure I won't miss a face like that."

"Felix River," I mumble, as I go over the now vivid memories.

He chuckles before taking a sip of his drink. "I was beginning to think you forgot about our first interaction. Glad to know I actually left a mark,"

"You were the one who stole that stupid diamond," I tell myself more than him.

"How I remember it, you were the one who stole it from me that night," He recalls.

"Yeah, after you stole it from my family first," I remind him.

For the first time, his teeth show as he smiles once again. "I never stole anything from your family. The man I got it from was Albert Ramirez. Before you got your hands on it, your family never had the gem in their possession."

I knit my brows together, recalling my father's words. "I thought it belonged to my ancestors,"

"It did, they just lost it after the Italian mafia raided their bunkers and took it from them. It has been exactly 46 years since it's last been back in your family. Until now, of course,"

I'm impressed by the amount of knowledge he has of my family history. "Looks like you know my own family tree better than I do,"

This time, his smile fades, and his cold eyes remain on me. "I know more of you than you surmise."

"You think you know me so well, huh."

"Bella, I've been watching your every step since the day we met. I know your moves, I know when and how you strike. I've got to say, I was impressed you've got away from under my eye, the first time we met, but don't you worry, I've learned from my mistakes, supernova."
