Mortem

DAYLIGHT WAS coming to a close and darkness started to shroud over the sky. Yoongi and Belle were still in the woods, only they weren't running anymore. They were far from the house but definitely not out of danger.

Who knows what kind of wild animals they would encounter in the dark with trees at every turn?

"This is pointless." Yoongi huffed. "We've been walking in circles for hours and now the damn sun is going down."

Belle carried on walking, not paying attention to the boy who was complaining next to her. She was determined to get out of those woods, even if it meant walking all night and trying to find a way out.

"Did you hear what I just said, Belle?"

A sighed left her dry, cracked lips. "I heard you, Yoongi. Just keep walking."

"How can I when we don't know which way is up and which is down? Like I said, we are walking in circles." He stopped walking and Belle did the same.

"Yoongi, aren't you the one who said that if we stop at any point, we might get killed by Lee?"

"I know I said that but... we're far away from that horrid house now."

"What do you suggest we do now? Sit, pray and hope that somehow someone will find us out here?" she asked the brown-eyed boy in front of her.

"I'm exhausted. Can we just sit for a while?"

"Yoongi, it's getting dark." Belle stated the obvious.

The boy sat down under a pine tree on the dying grass. He had a look of confusion on his face. Confusion, fear, hurt... every emotion that Belle felt. "I still see him. The way Lee dragged his already weak body down the hall and into that horrid room." He said.

He was talking about Taehyung.

"I didn't want him to kill Taehyung but he did it anyway. His eyes, Belle. His eyes had so much evil in them and it just felt like I was stuck in a room with Lucifer himself." A lonely tear ran down his cheek and he quickly wiped it with the sleeve of his hoodie.

"He made me watch everything and that's... that's something I'll never get out of my head. Those images haunt me, Belle."

Belle hunched squatted down in front of her friend and felt a deep pang of sadness. She had never seen Yoongi so broken and she knew exactly how he felt. After seeing Taehyung's body, she could think of nothing else.

She comforted him. "I'm sorry you had to go through that, Yoongi. As soon as we make it out of this God forsaken place, we'll find some help for the both of us."

"Yeah, if we ever get out." He rolled his eyes. "What happened to your thumb?"

Belle looked down at her thumb. The pain had numbed down but it was even more discoloured. "I dislocated it to try and get out of the handcuffs Lee had me in. it might be broken though, I don't know." She laughed slightly.

Just as they were starting to calm down, they heard something that sounded like a gunshot. Then another, and another...

Bullets were shot up in the sky causing Yoongi and Belle to flee from the pine tree. Once again, they ran as fast as they could, not knowing where they were going.

Suddenly, Belle tripped on something and fell to the ground. "What the hell was that?" she hissed in pain.

"Belle..." she heard Yoongi say. She looked at the ground and saw a hand. It was cut at the socket, it was soaked in blood.

The fact that it was a human hand sent shivers down Belle's spine as she frantically got up and scurried away from it.

"This just keeps getting worse." She said.

Yoongi held her hand. "Can we please keep going? Who knows how many other parts we'll come across here?"

They ran and ran and ran until they couldn't anymore, cutting through a mass of pine trees and shrubs and patches of dying grass crunching under their stomping feet.

It was pitch black. The only light that shone through the thickness of the woods was the moonlight. It illuminated their path and helped them cover much ground.

"My legs are on fire." Said Belle as she clutched at her calf.

Yoongi didn't answer, he just looked at her and carried on walking.

The sound of a twig snapping caught their attention. "What was that?" Yoongi asked, his ears perked up and listening attentively.

"It definitely wasn't me." said Belle, standing completely still.

Again, another twig snapped. The sound of heavy footsteps came closer and closer to them.

Belle pulled Yoongi behind the biggest pine tree that was close by. They hid behind it and she prayed that whatever was there with them would leave and not harm them.

The crunch of leaves and dead grass was the loudest it's ever been at that moment and the two youngsters feared the worst.

Yoongi turned to look at what it was but did not expect anything like what he saw.

"Oh my God..." His eyes went wide.

Belle looked too and her jaw dropped. It was hideous, incredibly disfigured and it stared right at her.

An 8 feet tall human type of creature stood before them. It had deep brown eyes that had a tinge of amber in them... but besides those otherwise beautiful eyes, it was hideous. Really hideous and had the most disfigured body.

Belle stepped closer to Yoongi, holding onto him for dear life. Her heart was beating a thousand times a minute. She didn't know what this creature was capable of or what it could do to them. They were defenceless, had nothing on them that would help them during an attack.

The thing cocked its head from side to side, curious about the humans standing before it. The moonlight was now pale and bright, Belle could see its face. A Glasgow smile went from ear to ear, lips torn and bloody. Its body was slightly hunched over and it had patches of skin sewn to it.

It stepped closer to Yoongi and Belle and they stepped back. "Yoongi, we need to run." Belle whispered.

"Don't... it might chase us and try to kill us."

The thing let out a low growl and stepped closer to the two teenagers. It could smell the fear all over them. Its eyes were glued on Belle and not once did it blink.

Yoongi tried to pull her away but it was as if the thing had her in a trance. She stood there, motionless. Its eyes held a familiar twinkle in them, she didn't know why but she felt as though she had seen them before.

"Belle, move your fuckin' feet." Yoongi harshly whispered to her, pulling on her arm.

The creature tore its gaze away from Belle and ferociously swung its enormous arm, colliding it with Yoongi's body. He fell to the ground with a disturbing thud and instantly lost consciousness,

"No!" Belle yelled as she met the same sudden impact and was out cold.

"Yoongi... Yoongi wake up."

He looked up and saw his best friend, looking as beautiful as ever. She was dressed in a dazzling white dress, the color complimenting her radiant dark brown skin.

"You promised we'd go to the museum today." she smiled.

He chuckled at her adorable pout. "Yes, yes. I know I promised."

He got up from the plush mattress he laid in and got ready while Belle went through his vinyl collection.

He wondered how he had gotten so lucky.

He finally got the girl of his dreams and his life was full of nothing but the joy he deserved.

"Okay, Belle. I'm all set. We can go now." He said.

A bright smile on her face.

His whole body felt lightweight, almost as if he was a feather floating in the air. What was this feeling?

Was he dead?
