Why are there Hobbits in the second age?
After all, Tolkien clearly said Hobbits didn't have anything to do with the second age. This is important as them not having anything to do with the second age is why they can do what they do in The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings.
So, why are there Hobbits in the second age.
Says the show runners, they're Harfoot, the ancestors of Hobbits.
--face palm--
Sorry, but no. Harfoot are a type of Hobbit, so their Hobbits are indeed Hobbit.
Of course, this brings up the question if they have the rights to even use Hobbits, which goes back to the Dungeons and Dragons they had to call their Hobbit like race Halflings.
So technically, if they didn't have the rights they shouldn't have put them in?
But, yeah—this is one of the reasons why Tolkien fans knew even before Rings of Power launched that they would be butchering the lore and weren't going back to the books.
Not to mention this has issues with the fact Hobbits not being known was a big deal, which means they've a super small part to play in this so why are they even here? Unless it's not a small part as their hearts are bigger than their feet?
