"ALRIGHT MICHELLE." Shawn said as he held up a spoon of mashed carrots. "You gotta eat it before you can have your milk."
Michelle simply stared up at her brother, as if wondering why he was still even trying. Shawn had tried to feed her six different cans of baby food, but she wouldn't eat a single one. Holding the spoon out to her, he waited for her to open her mouth, but she didn't. Sighing, Shawn lifted the food to his mouth.
"Look, Michelle. Look how yummy it is."
Shawn took a bite, and gagged at the taste. Now he knew why Michelle wouldn't eat it, that stuff was nasty. Shawn smiled through the pain, mumbling a good. He made a face and his sister began laughing, clapping her hands.
"It's not funny." He told her sternly. "I wasn't prepared for it to taste that way. See? This is why I don't eat vegetables. They're disgusting."
Michelle smiled, and Shawn took the chance to stuff the spoon in her mouth. Giving his sister a smug look, he went to dip the spoon back into the small cup, and winced when something wet hit his face. Looking at his sister, he saw the mashed orange vegetable on her face, from having spit it out on him. Huffing angrily, he wiped his face and shoved the baby food in the fridge.
"That's enough food for now." Shawn muttered. "I'll just give you your bottle."
Wiping his sister's face off, he unstrapped her from her high chair, and brought her to the crib that was set up in his room. He sat on his bed with her, feeding her the bottle, humming slightly under his breath.
"Is this all you wanted?" Shawn asked in a baby voice, peering down at the baby. "Huh? Did you just wanna your bottle?"
Michelle looked up at him with her drooping eyes as she slowly chugged her bottle.
"Slow down, munchkin, you're gonna get a bellyache." Shawn tickled his little sisters stomach. "You want that? Do you want a bellyache?"
Michelle laughed around the bottle, her eyes squinting, staring up at her brother. Slowly, she began to drift off to sleep, her brown eyes fighting to stay open.
"It's okay, Michelle, go to sleep. It's alright. I'm not going anywhere."
Finally, the little girl fell asleep, and Shawn sighed, slowly pulling the bottle away. Shawn always had this fear that the bottle would leak slowly, and would some how drown his sister. But he was pretty sure he was just paranoid. Though he always took it out of her mouth when she fell asleep.
Laying his sister down in her crib gently, he looked at his clock and cursed. 11:59 pm.
"Well there goes going to sleep early." He mumbled under his breath.
