Can u come out for a sec?

Jeongguk frowned. It was half-past nine and not an ideal time for someone to stop by someone else's house, even if that someone else was their boyfriend, so it worried him for a second.

He knew Taehyung was leaving for a tournament the next morning. It was the one and last chance for him to get into the national team and prove to his parents that he would be just fine in his life with basketball.

Jeongguk supposed Taehyung's nerves were the reason for bringing him to his doorstep at such an hour.

He pocketed his phone and rushed out of the house after yelling, "Eomma, Tae hyung is here. I'll be right back!!"

His heart sank at the sight outside. Taehyung was leaning against Jeongguk's bicycle with his hands busy rubbing his face in tension or frustration, Jeongguk didn't know. Still, he wanted to take the hands off his face and give him a tight hug and make him feel better.

So he did just that.

Taehyung melted in his arms with a sigh. "I just needed a hug very badly," he mumbled against his shoulder.

Jeongguk rubbed his back comfortingly. "I know," he said. A tiny (very huge) corner of his heart felt proud that Taehyung had to come to him for a hug instead of going to his brother. It was huge progress in their relationship, he supposed.

"You'll do great, hyung, I have that confidence in you. You will get into the team for sure this time."

Taehyung didn't reply. He didn't even sigh. He just stayed in Jeongguk's arms with his eyes closed, trying his very best to breathe normally.

"I don't wanna study medicine," he said after a while.

"I know. I know," Jeongguk held him tighter. "I know. And you won't. You will become an international basketball player, mark my words."

Taehyung sighed at that but made no effort to get away from Jeongguk.

"When do you have to be at school in the morning?"

"Six."

"Do you wanna spend the night here? I can get Jinnie hyung to drop you at school by six."

Taehyung shook his head. "My bag is in our house. I have to get back."

"Which house?"

"My parents' house. Joonie hyung came over for dinner to cheer me up, but they are fighting again over my tournament. It keeps happening all the time, I'm honestly fed up."

Jeongguk sighed. He couldn't imagine having such a fierce passion for something and having his parents oppose him from following that dream just as fiercely. He felt bad for his boyfriend.

"Lemme call Joonie hyung, gimme a second," Jeongguk said and moved to take his arms off Taehyung, but Taehyung whined, making Jeongguk throw his arms back around him and pull him closer. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry," he mumbled and took his phone out. He held the phone behind Taehyung's back and called Namjoon, putting the call on speaker.

"Yes, Gguk?"

"Hyung, Tae hyung is here. Can he spend the night with me? You can bring his bag over to the school in the morning, right?"

"Yeah, of course. Is he okay?"

Jeongguk threw a look at Taehyung and pursed his lips to stop himself from smiling too hard. "He is busy being a big baby, but yeah, he is okay. I'll make sure he is, even if he isn't," he said and cooed at the feeling of Taehyung snuggling harder into his arms.
