I'm so tired. I called off "sick" for these past two days, because I don't want to face the team. I know I did nothing wrong, but still. I never knew dance captain would be so problematic. But my mom and dad said tomorrow I have to go. There's only so much days you can spend doing Science homework.
Rubbing my eyes, I walk into Studio A. I hear Jackie's voice almost immediately the minute I enter the room.
"No Richelle, no Summer. Nobody to take the top spot from me. Nobody."
Biting my lip, I walk in. "Hey guys, morning, ready for rehearsal?" I say, trying to act as normal as possible. The room falls silent, and I look over at my friends, Kenzie, Piper, Lily and Amy. I see Kenzie and a Lily giggling, and the hurt look of Piper. Did she care?
"I'm really sorry Summer, but since you haven't been here for a week and Richelle hasn't been here since Tuesday, I'm leading. We have Dancemania to prepare for, you know."
"Wait, when did we pick Dancemania. Shouldn't the whole team be involved in the decision?" I say, confused.
"Everyone who was here voted. Some of our parents actually pay to be here." Jackie says, and I just look at the floor.
"Um, ok." I say, wiping away my tear. "I haven't stretched yet though."
"You better." Jackie says. "I know I'm being unfair, but this is Dancemania. Not Grade 1 ballet."
"Yes, I understand. I'll warm up."
"We'll be waiting!" Jackie says, as the whole of A-troupes sits on the bench, watching me stretch.
