After Michelle left, Emily took a few weeks off on "vacation" and boy, I wish she didn't - Kingston and Henry keep inventing unusual theories of her and Michelle, and it's a nightmare when your trying to pay attention in rehearsal. To be honest, I was shocked when they came out as LGBT, and I know they went to prom together and stuff, but everyone almost took that as more of a friendly thing. But one thing I've been noticing, is, ever since that happened, one team member has been awfully distant. No, it's not Piper, she's conquered her anxiety, no it's not Ozzy, he's proved himself to Heath, it's not who you'd expect. But, no one seems to be worried about her, so maybe I'm just overthinking this. This year is my year, and I'm gonna shine.

Since Emily's gone, the studio is in hands of the new owner, Nick. He's, a character. He just moved to Canada from England a few years ago; the baby ballet dancers are still getting used to the accent. Loads of people haven't been taking him seriously, and it's kinda annoying being the only one mature enough to respect him and having to keep telling everyone to stop talking.

"Okay kids, I have an announcement." Nick walks in and everyone ignore him, as usual. He doesn't seem to notice though, and carries on, "Today, we, or rather, I will be choosing the dance captain."

Everyone pauses and turns their heads. Immediately, as I anticipated, Jackie runs forward.

"I wanna have a shot at dance captain. I'm amazing, funny and leadershippy. Perfect for dance captain."

"First of all, leadershippy isn't a word, second of all, what jokes do you tell, and third of all, which dancer in this room is more amazing than me?!" Richelle looks around. "I thought so Jackie. Nick, I'm gonna run for dance captain, and I'm gonna win it!"

"Richelle, don't be rude, you know I'm dyslexic!"

"Wait, if your dyslexic, how are you in debate team at school," Ozzy interrupts and Jackie groans.

"Just, shut up Ozzy."

"Ooohh," Piper, Finn and Amy go over the death stares of the two girls.

"That's excellent," Nick says, slightly overwhelmed by Richelle and Jackie's competitiveness. "Anyone else?"

Everyone either shakes their head or says, "no thank you", and Richelle soon goes, "Looks like it's me and you again Jackie. And looks like-,"

"Wait!" I say. "Actually...I'd really like a shot at dance captain." I  nod my head and Nick replies "Sure Summer, glad you stepped up." Richelle and Jackie roll their eyes but I know I've made the right choice. Maybe, just maybe, I have a chance...

A/n first chapter in a while. Sorry for the delay, I just was busy with finals and things like that. I hope I can update loads more over summer!
