I lowered my gaze and peered through my window.

Thank the lord.

Jaxon's back was still turned away.

My cheeks burned at the though of him seeing me like this.

I hurriedly grabbed the towel and wrapped it around my body once more.

Going to the window, I tugged on the blinds sending them down in a frenzy.

What a great start to the day.

All I could hear from the room across me, was chaos. The shuffle of feet and the sound of glass crashing against a hard surface...

Shit. shit. shit.

I scrambled to put my clothes on as the thud of feet dragging across the floor got closer to my room.

I reached for the last button on my blouse when Dave burst in my room sending the door into the wall.

The smell of liquor and menthol that trailed behind him filled my room with such intensity it made my eyes burn.

I should have known he would be here.. I should've been more quiet, more careful not to wake him...

When I was three, my dad left. Growing up my mom spent more time with her boyfriends then she did her own daughter.

She tried to replace every trace my dad left, including me.

It was always them before me, well before Dave came along. She never knew how to pick her men.

They were always either abusive or drunks, never both, that is until Dave came along.

She never saw how much he hated me, only that he was kind to her- and that is all that mattered.

" Why are you here?!" He spat.

I flinched at the harshness in his words as I looked up at him.

" There is no school, It's Saturday." I mumbled.

he grabbed my arm pulling me towards him, his breath warm on my face.

"You are NOT going to stay in this house anymore" he growled. "I will not have you treating your mother and I like some ignorant bastards."

he released his grip and sent me tumbling to the ground.

I picked myself up and turned only to be greeted by a burning sensation on my cheek.

fazed, I touched my cheek where his hand had made contact and looked up slowly.

" I don't want to see you here after tomorrow. You hear me!" He looked at me one last time and through his teeth spat,

"Your mom has already been through enough, and you are just adding to her problems."

I looked away and sighed, tears clouding my vision. It was hopeless.

I couldn't stay, I couldn't keep living like a pawn in someone else's twisted game.

I needed a way out, but with no place to go I was stuck.

A miracle was what I needed.
