Drip. Drip. Drip
The faint sound of my surroundings echoed in the back of my mind.
Drip. Drip. Drip. The soft patter of rain getting clearer. Were we outside? I couldn't tell. I didn't know how long I had been out, only that morning had not yet come.
I could not see my hands in front of me, nor could I make out anything around me. Just the sound of the rain. In a way it comforted me.
Tsk. Get up.
I heard quietly. I winced as the back of my head began to throb.
Get. Up.
I heard firmly. I looked around quickly as I stood. Feeling for anything around me. My hands brushed up against a wood frame and I followed it cautiously.
A barn, or warehouse, it had to be. But why, why was I here? I was back home not long ago. How did it come to this?
"Mom?" I whispered.
"Mom?" I said desperately.
The sound of metal fell behind me and as I turned to look as a faint flicker of a lighter burned for a second, revealing a small group of people clinging to one another.
They were just girls. No older than me.
I walked slowly in their direction, making sure each step I took was silent and deliberate.
"How did we get here? Where are we?" I asked quietly.
"Shhhhhhh!" One of the girls exclaimed. "They will hear you."
I stopped. "Who? Who will hear?" I asked quieter than before. They looked at me terrified. One pointed at the opposite end of the barn. "Them." She cried and the doors ripped open.
A man appeared in the doorway as headlights of an older truck shown through, dimly lighting the inside of the barn.
The man sneered as he stepped forward.
