JUMP!

Today I have to go to school. But this time I have to ride the bus. Great.

I got up to the smell of smoke again. But this time it didn't smell like cigarette smoke, but more like food burning. I jumped out of bed in my baggy oversized Black Veil Brides shirt and ran toward the stairs. I almost tripped a few times. I jumped down the stairs and ran around the corner to the kitchen.

Fire.

The oven was left on. My mom was passed out on the floor. I almost wanted to leave her and Amber inside to die but I didn't have time to think about it at the time.

I ran to my mom and dragged her away. Then I heard Amber behind me screaming.

"What's going on?!" She was in full panic and almost jumped down to me and mom,"What's wrong with mom?!?"

"Take her and go outside to the neighbors! Go now!" I yelled at her. She just nodded and dragged mom across the floor.

"Wait what about you?" She looked up at me with concern. Something I have never seen in her eyes before.

"Just go now!" I shouted. She looked at me then mom and hesitated.

"I will be right back I promise!" I could barely hear her.

"GO!" Is all I could say.

By the time she got out the flames had already run up 2 walls. I was terrified. I ran upstairs again to grab the pictures and my sisters bear. That is her most prized possession.

I ran to the stairs but they had already been engulfed in flames. I heard the 'weewoo' of the fire trucks. I ran into my room and opened the window.

"JUMP ELLI!! JUMP!" Amber yelled. She was in her pink pjs.

I looked behind me and the fire had made its way to my door. It almost looked like it was giving me a chance to jump. I wasn't that high up, but I am scared of heights.

"ELLIANNE PLEASE JUMP!" Amber yelled again. Now there was a giant red circle.

"I CAN'T!" I yelled to scared to even think.

"ELLIANNE! JUMP" Jerrod yelled. The school bus was in front of the yard and he rides it I guess.

I felt the hand of the heat against my back now. So intense. I closed my eyes and let go. Hoping I would land right on the circle.

I landed on my side missing the circle by a little bit. I couldn't breath. In that moment I thought I was going to die. From fire or landing on the ground.

Black.

When I woke up I was in a hospital bed and I couldn't breath. The nurse put a needle in my arm and almost immediately I could breath again without pain.

I saw my mom and sister across the room. Amber didn't see I was up at first. Then I coughed. She looked up as if her favorite boy band had just walking in her room.

"Your ok!" She screeched and took one long stride and she was hugging me.

"Stop" I choked out. I was at a basic whisper.

She let go,"I'm sorry did I hurt you?" She looked sympathetic.

I nodded.

"Sorry."

I looked at my mom. She was staring at me in discussed.

"It's about time you woke up. You've missed 3 days of school. And we lost our house." Was she really blaming me for this? Really bitch?

I grabbed a note pad and pencil. I was pissed. I wrote,'are you kidding me? You were passed out on the floor! You were the one who left the oven on! You were the one drinking again! You! It's YOUR fault we don't have a house now! And your blaming me? I smelled the smoke! I started to drag your drunk ass out of the house! I was the one who saved us all! I grabbed Amber teddy bear. Her most prized possession. And YOU are blaming ME? I wish I would have let you burn in there!' I was crying and whimpering.

"Let me see that,"she grabbed the paper from my hands and read it. "How DARE YOU? YOU UNGRATEFUL LITTLE BASTERD!" She smacked me.

"HEY! You"the doctor walked in at the perfect moment,"out of here now! If you ever raise a had to that poor girl again your going to jail."

"Fine!" My mom was drinking,"Amber," she barked at her,"Come with me. We are leaving!"

"No mom," Amber said not looking at her.

"Now."

"No I'm staying with Ellianne."

"Get out now or I will..." My mom stopped realizing the doctor was still behind her,"Fine. Fine. You can stay together. I never wanted either of you anyway."

She walked out with her middle fingers up.

"Now that she is gone, how are you feeling kid?" The doctor asked.

I just nodded. I couldn't speak.

"Well you have 2 broken ribs but you will be out by tomorrow. Do you 2 have any where to stay?" The doctor sounded concerned.

A few minutes passed. And Amber looked up,"yes!"
