BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! Urrrg. Stupid alarm clocks! I mean who thinks it is a treat to wake up to a startling loud noise in the morning? Not me! Anyway, today is my first day at my parent's old school and I am not looking forward to it at all. Why should I because it is not like I will ever be able to live up to their legacy. Come on do you expect me to go on all these crazy adventures, save my friends' lives, defeat the Dark Lord, ect... NO!!! In fact I just want to be the shy, quiet girl who doesn't get around much, but the heavens had to curse me with such awesome parents who are legends around the world. Yes, my parents are Harry and Ginny Potter from all your guy's favorite book (or movie) series, Harry Potter, which makes my life just flipping fantastic. Yippie for the dreadful day to come! When I finish getting ready I come down the stairs only to be rushed to the fireplace to do the annual routine at getting places so I say the words, "Platform 9 3/4" then throw a dust-like substance in the fireplace that I am in and magically I am teleported to the London train station by the sign saying "Platform 9 3/4." My parent kiss me goodbye and wish me luck saying it won't be that hard at school and that they will send me lots of letters. Now there is only one more thing left for me to do. Run right into the wall.
That's a basic summary of how I think today is going to go and what my life is like. As I said before, I'm the daughter of Harry and Ginny Potter, heroes of the war against Voldemort. I'm the youngest of three children, and I'm the only girl.
My brothers are already famous at Hogwarts. Okay, yes, some fame is to be expected as the children of the famous Harry Potter, but they've gone on to make their own name. James seems to be the reincarnation of his namesake, the original James Potter, my father's father, and Fred Weasley, my mother's deceased brother. Albus is already showing the brilliance of his namesake, Albus Dumbledore, and is already a teacher's favorite.
My brothers and I never got the chance to meet half of my parents' old friends because they died in the war before my parents were even a "thing."
For some reason this was on my mind as I ate my breakfast. My brothers were joking around, as usual. Mum and Dad didn't usually take notice until it got dangerous.
"Something wrong, Lily?" Mum asked.
I shook my head, still staring at my cereal. "Just a little nervous, that's all."
In fact, I was more than a little nervous. I was going to Hogwarts, after all, where my family was famous. They'd expect me to have the same flair.
That was the crux of the matter. I wasn't special in any way. I didn't like throwing myself in dangerous situations, like Mum and Dad. I didn't have the creativity or sneakiness necessary in good pranksters, like James, and I wasn't brilliant at everything, like Albus was.
Mum was looking at me as if contemplating whether or not to ask another question. Fortunately for me, a fork whizzed past my head. Mum turned away from me and toward James and Albus.
I looked up at the clock. It read 10:00. "Mum, we have to go!"
Mum looked up at the clock. "Everyone, time to go!" she shouted.
Quickly, we all lined up at the fireplace, took a pinch of Floo powder, then we were whisked away to the King's Cross Train Station.
