Skipper
I guess I like Hogwarts. The classes are a bit of a challenge, but with James' help, I'm sure I'll be able to catch up. Transfiguration is definitely my favorite. I've already managed to get through four years worth of lessons in less than a week, which I would say is pretty amazing. Potions is my least favorite. I lack the proper skills to make a worthy concoction. Yesterday, I blew up my Veritaserum. The whole class was covered in green goo, but James was laughing.
He's always laughing or smiling. I think that's why I like being his friend: because his mood is definitely contagious and he makes the best of everything. His "friends", on the other hand, are complete gits! Tragically, I will tell you that I believe they were born without brains. James can't stand them either, and I wonder sometimes why he's friends with them.
Anyways, I feel like I've known James for ages, when, in reality, it's only been a week. I've meet his younger brother, Albus and his cousin, Rose. Those two are inseparable. I quite like Rose. She has fire, I'll tell you that. James hates the attention he gets for being the son of Harry Potter. He tells me he would much rather earn attention than have it handed to him freely. Maybe that's why he can't stand his friends. They only hang out with him because he's practically famous.
I snort when I think this. James, famous? It's impossible! Sadly, it's the truth.
Lily, Anna, and the twins haven't really talked to me this past week. I guess they're still mad about the whole prank thing, but they have to get over it sometime, right? To be honest, I'm avoiding them. They're smart girls, and I don't doubt their abilities to get revenge.
My candle is slowly burning down, shedding only a soft glow to finish my homework by. The common room is eerily quiet at this time of night. Occasionally, the floors will creak, setting my nerves on edge. It gives me the chills every time.
I'm just about finished with the last page of my essay for DADA (Defense Against the Dark Arts) when I feel a hand on my shoulder. A let out a squeal and turn around, brandishing my wand, ready to defend myself. I come face to face with the one and only James Potter. Of course he would scare me like that! Why wouldn't he?
"Honestly, James! You can't sneak up on people like that," I scold him, stomping my foot.
He smirks," Glad to see you too, Princess."
"I told you not to call me that," I scowl at him. The late hour is getting to me. He ignores this comment and grabs my wrist.
"Come on, I have something... or rather someone, to show you," he explains as he pulls me out of the common room.
Who could he want me to meet at this ungodly hour? I guess it's not that ungodly because I was up doing homework, but still.
I stifle a yawn as I'm pulled down the hallway. The torches on the walls burn bright with a magical glow, illuminating the excited expression on James' face. He leads me down the moving stairs to the third floor. I start to get nervous on our descent to the second level. What if we're caught? Right at this moment, James and I are disobeying curfew. What if Filch finds us? Or his creepy, human-like cat?
"James," I whisper, pulling my wrist back to make him stop," James, we can't be out this late."
He turns around to look at me, confused," You don't like to break rules, Princess?"
I snort," No, that's not it. I just think we should go back to bed. I mean, they obviously have curfew for a reason. Maybe that reason is different than what we think it is."
"It is. Don't worry, we won't get caught. They don't have teachers patrolling the halls like McGonagall told us." he tells me, smiling.
This time, he grabs my hand, his fingers laced through mine. My cheeks grow hot as he pulls me farther down the deserted hallway, but he doesn't seem to notice, thank God. When we reach the end of the hallway, he stops me. Before I can protest, James covers my eyes so that I'm unable to see.
"Ok... start walking again," he says, giving me a shove.
"James! Where are we going?"
"Bloody Hell, woman! Be patient," he whisper-yells at me.
I roll my eyes under his hands. He's really serious about this isn't he? I hope it's not some old hobo guy that's friends with a teacher.
Removing his hands, he whispers in my ear," Skipper... meet my real friends."
Before me stand four people, each with different qualities. There's only one girl, a tall blonde with pale skin and an icy stare. The three boys are all different, except for the one that looks about the same as the girl. One boy has a striking complexion with eye catching red hair, and the other towers over me, his intimidating stare breaking through my mental wall. I back up, but bump into James, who grabs my shoulders with a reassuring squeeze.
Faking confidence, I stick out my hand," Skipper. Pleased to meet you."
The girl smiles, barring her... teeth? Fangs really. Her sharp incisors gleam white, catching the light of the torches on the wall. She takes my hand, and I'm immediately scared by how cold her skin feels.
"Chelsea."
I gulp as I stare wide eyed at her ominous fangs. Does James want to kill me?
Chelsea throws her head back to laugh," Don't be scared. I'm not going to eat you. Besides, I only feed on animal blood. It's filling enough."
"Animal blood!?" I ask, a little breathless.
"Yes darling. I'm a vampire, just like my brother here," she points to the boy that looks like her," Chad come say hello."
The boy shakes my hand," Once you get over the initial shock, it's not that bad."
"Oh, yeah. Great... I can't wait," I say in somewhat of a daze as I turn to the other two boys.
"Are you vampires as well? Or are you half unicorn or something?"
"Oh no, we're not vampires. My beta and I are lyncanthrops, or werewolves. Quite different than vampires, actually," the one with the intimidating stare explains to me. His voice isn't as scary as I initially though it would be.
"My name is Bash, by the way. And this is Damen."
He doesn't stick out his hand to shake, and I'm glad. Vampires? Werewolves? What have I gotten myself into?
