Chapter 12

"He's gone." My jaw drops as I stare at the doctor. "He was dead before we even got there. There was nothing we could do."

Skylar lets out an agonizing scream throws herself at me, wrapping her arms around my neck and smashing her sobbing face into my chest. I just stand there, other than wrapping my arms around Sky, I don't move or say anything.

Payne. My friend. A guy I've been living with since my parents died, is now gone. My brother, is dead. No, he wasn't as close to me as Sky or Jake, but he was still my broth, still family. He was alway's a bit distant and quiet, but I still love him as I do all the others. Yet he's gone now. He left the world at such a young age.

"What of the others?" Liz, the cop, asks because Debbie can't stop crying.

The doctor looks down at his papers. "Lesley Winters is fine, just recovering from his sedation. Jake, on the other hand, is in surgery. We're strying to stabalize him."

Deb sobs grow louder and I don't blame her. Jake's been with her since he was ten, so she's raised him for the last eight years. "C-Can... We.. S-See... Them?" She asks between sobs.

The doctor shaes his head. "Not yet I'm sorry. The nurse is still checking Lesley and Jake wont be seen until he's out of surgery." We all sit down in the waiting room, with not much of a choice.

It takes over an hour for Deb and Sky to calm down. We just sit quietly, waiting for any type of news. Liz leaves to get some coffee and Deb's phone rings. She looks at it then sighs. "Thank the heavens."

She stands up and goes outside to talk. She soon comes back in, looking a little bit more relieved. "Good news?" I ask.

She nods. "Alecc's home and fine. I'm not quite sure but he's either married or engaged.."

My eye's buldge. "What?!" Sky and I ask in unison.

She nods. "At least he's okay. I'd rather him have a messed up marriage then never return."

I nod. "Anything else?"

"Yup. He won $50,000 in Vegas with that Zeke guy. They agreed to pay the hospital bills."

Sky jumps up as my eye's widen. "Holy shizz!" She screams bouncing up and down. I chuckle at her excitement and rub the tired out of my eye's.

All I want is to know they're okay so that I can get home and comfort Zack. When he came over earlier he was so scared and needy. I was almost tempted not to leave, but then I heard they could all br dead and I had to come. God, I feel so bad for Zack though. He explained that his dad beat him up so his mom made him runaway, but he didn't have enough time to explain why his dad did it because I had to leave.I can't even explain what I'm feeling right now. All I know is my heart aches to go to him...

Sky's p.o.v.

I wake up and stretch. My head nuzzles farther into the pillow and it suddenly stiffens. Wait, when did pillows move? "Woah there Sky, twincest isn't really my thing." Jess say's pushing my face away from his thighs.I giggle and sit up. The sight of the waiting room makes mr remember everything that's happend and I sigh, looking down sadly. "We can see them now. I just got back from Les' room."

"Are they awake?" He nods. "Lesley is, but when I went in to tell him Jake's stable he ran out of his room. He's in Jake's now."

I laugh lightly. "They really love eachother. It seems so wrong that we all get to live happy, while Payne is gone."

He frowns. "Don't think like that. Payne died saving Les. You and I both know that if Les wouldn't have made it but Payne did, he wouldn't be doing much living anyway."

I sniff. "What do you mean?"

"Payne would hate himself. You know it and so do I. He couldn't live with that on his shoulders."

I bod. I guess it was for the best... "Wanna' go see them?"

"Sur-" he's cut off by a girl in heels stomping past.

"Karry?" I ask. It's Jake's ex-girlfriend. Well actually, I don't really remember a break up... Which means.. Oh shit! She and Jake are still dating! "What are you doing here?"

She rolls her eye's, annoyed. "Breaking up with my boyfriend. Who could possibly want someone who looks like that!?"

Jess and I both look at her like she's just raped the Pope with a spoon. Then we both spring up and bolt to Jake's room, me following Jess, since I don't know where to go. Once we're there we find Deb looking in the window with a small smile. We both squeeze up next to her and look too. Les.and Jake are talking happily and sharing small kisses.

"Aww!" I gush proudly.

She nods. "Yes, they're okay. My babies are okay."

"Excuse me." We turn around to see the lady cop. She's not in uniform and she looks good for hwr age. Her sun kissed light brown hair hangs over her shoulders beautifully. "Can I speak with you please?" She asks Deb.

Deb's face is hard but she finally sighs, say's "Fine." and walks away, Lady Cop trails behind her. Once they're gone I turn to Jesse.

"Watch them and text me what happens. I'm gunna' go get the scoop on Deb and the cop lady."

He looks at me like I'm insane then nods. I walk in the direction Deb went. I gasp when I turn the corner. Deb's a lesbian!? With a cop lady!? And they're kissing right now!? I spin around and run away begore they see me. Once around the corner I run into somthing hard but soft. I brace myself to land in my ass but two strong armd catch me, wrapping around my waist and pulling me close.

"Someone's in a hurry." The guy smiles.

I blush. "Yeah, a little." Good one Sky. This guy was gorgeous with golden eye's, black hair that was mostly pulled into a ponytail other than a few strands, he also had a bit of a hippy look, but a fuckin' sexy hippy.

"Jenson!" A doctor yells and sexy hippy turns his head in that direction. "Come on buddy, it's time for your medicine."

He looks back at me, face flushed with embarrassment. "Bye." He mumbles, walking away. I want to stop him, get to know him. But I don't. Maybe it's the fact that he has 'medicine' that stops me.

A/N Sky's p.o.v. was just for those of you who didn't read the first book. Guess what! All of the next chapters are goingto have things that are passed the first book! Hells ya! Happy dance time! P.S. I changed the guy's name from Kyler to Jenson bc I want to use the name Kyler for another story I'll be starting once this is finished.
