This is when Bucky was on the run from Hydra, but also hiding from the Avengers.

It had been three years since Steve and I had broken up. He said and I quote, "I just can't be with you, if I'm in love with somebody else. Do you understand?" Ever since then we tried to be friends but it was just to awkward. Then I left about a year ago, just disappeared out of his life.

I holed up in a small apartment in Romania. It was a nice apartment. My neighbor is quiet, and he keeps to himself. I've only ever talked to him once. I couldn't get my apartment door open. It was a colder day, my door froze shut due to the heat from my apartment fighting with the cold on the outside. Although I had to approach him, but when I did I got a good look at him. He was cute, had a sharp jawline, little bit of a scruff on his face. He had a nice buff build, and his hair was a bit longer.

All in all, he was my type. I love Steve- but he broke my heart, and this was three years ago, almost four. I think I have the right to move on. I wouldn't do anything anyways, I don't want to break him. He already seemed timid enough, he doesn't need my drama. Or my problems. Going over to my coffee pot to make coffee only to realize i'm out of grounds I sigh.

"Fuck me." I grab my keys and walk out of my apartment. "There's a coffee shop down the street, don't need my keys." I turn back into my apartment mumbling to myself, set the keys down, and grab my wallet. "This is essential for you to buy anything Y/n, wake up." . Finally making my way out of my apartment I slightly bump into my neighbor. I look up to him, "Sorry, I don't know what's wrong with me today. Super tired I think." He just stayed quiet, but he nodded his to acknowledge that he heard my apology. I make my way around him, and finally leave the building.

Entering the coffee shop I smile slightly at the scent of coffee making its way into my nose. I walk up to the counter and order my drink, then once the barista tells me my total, I pay. I stood over in the designated waiting area with a few other people.

"You like coffee too?" I turn to see who was talking to me, and it was my neighbor. I smile.

"Yeah, I do. I definitely need it."

"Yeah me too," His voice was heavenly, "We've been neighbors for quite sometime, can I know your name?"

"Y/n, yours?" I held out my hand for him to shake.

"James," he shook my hand, "It's nice to meet you."

"It's nice t-,"

"Y/n? Your coffee is ready," The barista set my drink on the counter, and rung the bell signaling my drink was ready in case I hadn't heard her when she called out to me. I walk up and grab my drink, walking past James, "It's nice to meet you too," I smile at him, in hopes to get a small one back, all I got was a half sided smile, but it worked for me.

It took a few minutes to talk home. James has been invading my mind. He was super... mysterious, but at the same time, I liked it. He was different, in a way. Opening the door to my apartment, smiling my phone rings. Steve.

"Hello?" I sigh into the phone.

"Y/n."

"Steve."

"It's uh... it's been a while."

"Yeah, you're right."

"Are you still upset with me?"

"No, Steve I'm not. It was a long time ago. You just called at a bad time."

"I'm sorry."
