Chapter 17

"Sir Ji? Sir Ji uthiye..." Chaudhry's voice startled him. Sidharth and Chaudhry had taken the first flight in the morning to reach Punjab. He had dosed off to sleep in the flight. He walks out of the airport, his mother's words ring at the back of his mind.

Last night....

"Maa, tomorrow I am leaving for Punjab..kuch kaam hai. It's an early morning flight," Sidharth says while eating his food. Her mother replies "Sab theek hai?" "Ha..haan sahi hai sab. Sab sahi hai", he says in a shaky voice. Mrs Rita senses something off the beat, "hmm...Shehnaaz se baat hui?" He was unprepared for this question "It's late, I'm tired. I need to rest."

She comes and sits beside him. He looks down. Mrs Rita holds either side of his shoulder "Look up Sidharth, look at me." Sidharth looks at her just like a small kid who was afraid to get scolded by his mother. "I don't know what is the problem between you two, but jo bhi hai sort it out. Sidharth I have spoken to her once, all I can say is that she cares for you. And I have seen you happier around her. Bachpana maat kar Sidharth, sort it out."

Sidharth gets in the car which is supposed to take them to the Mohali police station. He orders for a black coffee on the way. They reach their destination when the Head Inspector of Mohali police station greets them "Jai Hind, ACP Shukla ji. I am Inspector Harminder Singh. Sidharth shakes his hand with Inspector Harminder "Good to meet you Inspector. I would like to proceed with the case now."

Sidharth, Chaudhry, Inspector Harminder's constables were present infront of Abhinav's factory. Sidharth orders the men to break the locks of the iron gate. They pull open the shutter of the gate and go inside. It was like a dark basement. The room is mostly unfurnished and empty. "Check every corner of the room", Sidharth says in a low voice. While everyone checks the room, Sidharth's eyes fall on a big painting on the wall. He walks further and finds that it is not a painting. He moves the painting to find a door. He opens the door and steps inside. A fleet of stairs take him to a dimly lit basement. He could hear faint voices of poeple. He slowly walks without making any noise. He stands behind the pillar but he feels the presence of someone behind him. He turns back and finds a man trying the hit him with a thick hockey stick.

Sidharth holds the man's hand and kicks him in his stomach. The man falls down within a second and Sidharth takes his gun out. Another man comes to punch him, but he holds his fist with his left hand and punches his face. Sidharth hits the man's head with the magazine of the gun leaving the man unconscious. He walks infront to see an old man sitting on a chair. He man has a wicked smile and says "Young man, I saw you getting inside this basement. You might be an ACP but you failed to find the well fitted cameras all around. However you defeated my two most powerful men. I  am impressed."

Sidharth lifts his gun and points at the man "not a single word Suresh." The old man Suresh sits down on the chair and says "Tune arrest kiya na Abhinav ko? Accha hi kiya ACP, aab uska factory aur property mera." Sidharth puts the gun in the hostler and folds his arms "Jealousy, I see. Your son Rajesh was going to get married to Kanika, right?" Suresh replies with a wicked smile "Sab barabar information nikala hai tune." "Aab toh tere saath bohot hisab jawab baki hai mera". By that time Chaudhry comes to arrest Suresh. Sidharth was going to walk out when he hears "Sidharth sochle sabke baare mein. You have stepped in a maze, and it's impossible to get out if you dig deeper. It isn't late, peeche hat ja." He laughs and the constables drag him out of the room.

"Sir Ji, look at this. This looks like drug packets." Chaudhry announces while searching Abhinav's factory. Sidharth wears his gloves and takes a small packet filled with white powder. "Send these to the lab, I need the reports." The found a few packets here and there across the room. Sidharth finds a phone which he takes for further examination. He finds the service room for security cameras. He copies all the CCTV footage videos in his pendrive. The police guards the area with barricade for no entry.
