Zekial's pov
"Paulette. Hey um... hi, how are you?" I asked her, surprised she actually called.
"Hey, please tell me its not true." She begged.
"Okay, now let me explain, you and I are... mates." I said hesitantly.
"Oh my god," she said slowly, "no no no listen; I like you and all, but I promise you, you and me, we're... well we're just too different and, I'm sorry... I can't do this. Goodbye, Zeke." She started to sob as she hung up the phone.
"No don't go!" I said after she hung up. All I wanted to do was break everything in the room and kill every living plant on my property. I yelled, loud. Then I heard a knock on the door. "Come in, it's open." Valorie walked in to the room, dripping from the rain outside.
"Listen... I know about you and Paulie... and that your not... human, and you don't scare me, but Paulette just got out of a really bad relationship and well, she's not ready to just jump right back in to something that she can't get out of. "She said with deep concern for her friend evident in her voice. "Don't call her, she'll call you."
And with that Valorie left before I could even say goodbye.
Paulette's pov
I sat there on my couch in tears, and they were never ending. I felt as if I had just been shot: it hurt to breathe, and it hurt even more to think about him. Val walked in and sat down beside me and hugged me.
"Val, what am I gonna do? I can't just avoid him I'm his mate!" I cried louder when I thought about him.
"It's all right, Paulie, just calm down." She said calmly. My loud cries turned to soft sobs.
"Val you're a great best friend, but I just wanna be alone for a little while."
Val walked out and that was the last time I saw her for 2 whole months.
