Chapter 6 - 'I'm keeping it...'

Clara's PoV

'It's okay to be nervous Clara' Nina said to me and squeezed my hand.

I was currently sitting in the waiting room tapping my foot impatiently and nervously.

I had to do all sorts of persuading to get Mr Armatiage to let me have the afternoon off... Including doing the whole of evening detentions all of next week.

'Clara Oswald' a small woman with blonde hair said. She wasn't as small as me though. She was slightly taller.

'Want me to come in?' Nina asked. 'No. Thanks. I'll be fine' I assured her and followed the nurse.

'Okay, just a few preliminary questions before I run the scan. Have you had any morning sickness?' I nodded. 'Couple of days' I said.

'Okay, and did you use protection do you know when you conceived the baby?' She asked.

Not personal but oh well. I shook my head. 'When was your last period?' She asked.

'I'm pretty sure it was the end of February' I said. I hadn't even noticed that I had skipped my period in March.

'Do you want to jump up then?' She asked motioning me towards the bed. I swung my legs nervously on the bed and crossed my arms tightly.

I was so nervous I could have sworn I might have thrown up now. 'My name is Louise by the way. And should you choose to continue with this pregnancy here, I'll be your nurse' she said.

She smiled down at me and analysed my stance. 'It's okay to be nervous Clara, but you do need to relax a little bit' she said pulling my arms apart and placing them at my side.

'It might be a bit cold' she said and I nodded. I always thought that they over reacted on the TV when they say it's cold... But it really is bloody freezing.

I yelped a bit when she put the gel on my stomach, which she laughed at and she moved the scanner around my stomach.

'All is looking pretty good. Nice healthy heart beat' she said. I was relieved to know it only has one heart... For now though.

'It looks really healthy actually, your about 7 and a half weeks' she said.

'I thought I might be' I signed confirming my suspicions.

I always knew it was his anyway, but some confirmation was nice. 'Due dates are never exactly accurate... But I would say about December 20th' she said.

I was a bit shocked at all the information being thrown my way, but I was taken a back when she turned the scanner my way.

'Have a look' she said handing my some tissue to wipe the gel of my stomach.

I turned and saw on the screen, a tiny little dot... But could make out that, that dot... Was my baby. Is my baby.

'Would you like a couple of copies?' She asked me. I nodded and she printed out three.

She then handed me some leaflets but I pushed them back.

'It's all so real now' I said and put my coat on. 'What do you mean?' She asked.

'About my previous...question on the phone. I'm keeping it' I informed her and she smiled.

'If you need to talk, I am your nurse. I'm happy to answer any questions you might have' she said.

'Thanks' I responded stuffing two pictures in my bag, but gripping onto one. 'Hey. You okay Clara. Your crying' Nina said.

'I'm fine' I said and looked down at the paper.

'Is that the baby?' She asked and I handed it over to her.

'This might be the hardest decision I'll ever make... But I have to keep it Nina' I said and she smiled hugging me.

I think she was just so happy I had made the right decision. Nina dropped me off at my flat, and I went straight in.

I threw my keys on the table and slumped into the sofa with my phone in hand.

I pressed the green call button next to the number and after 6 rings it went to voicemail.

'Doctor... We need to talk' I said sighing and hung up.

I put her to sleep, wrapped up in her basket, grabbed the baby monitor and headed towards the kitchen.

I put the telly on and started doing more washing. As cute as she is, she burns through clothes so fast, that I don't know if she'll ever stop.

Not being at work is already getting to me, because I'm extremely bored already.

I was hoping I might be able to get about an hours peace before she wakes up looking for a feed.

But alas that was too simple because who knew the trouble that was awaiting me around the corner.

As I emptied the washing machine, I picked up the basket and heard an impatient knocking on the door.

I figured it was my dad and he had forgotten his keys again. But it wasn't. I opened up the front door, and my eyes widened.

I mean I literally crapped myself because I couldn't believe for the life of me he was standing right in front of me.

'Clara. I got your message. What did you want to talk about?' He said and I gawped mouth open for a further 5 seconds and slammed the door in his face.

I slowly slipped down the door onto the floor.

'Clara' he whispered into the door.
