The following day rolled in quicker than I thought. The youth group was amazing and I came back home in time. Sadly, it was raining, now I have a cold because of walking through the rain to reach front door.
I really didn't feel like school this morning or infecting people so I called in sick, and now, I'm on the couch in my grey pajama baggy ish shorts and sweatshirt with my grey stockings. My hot cocoa that I made for myself and my blanket were waiting for me to snuggle properly since it was still cold.
Nona left to run some errands but told me to keep an eye out for a delivery. I tossed and turned, trying to find the perfect position after I got the remote and scrolled through shows. I decided to go with Call me Kat.
After three episodes, I dozed off in my warm cozy couch. Hours later the doorbell woke me up, on looking outside, it must have been around two in the afternoon cause the sun was out and the air just felt peaceful. It was the delivery guy here with Nona's stuff though he's back was facing me but when he turned__
"You?"
"Hey," Alex smiled.
"Hi," I slowly smiled back, "Since when do you deliver flowers to elderly women, that's like mad sus."
He chuckled, "I didn't know your grandma was the one who ordered for them, I just knew I was delivering lilies for a Mrs. Winslow. Which reminds me, sign here please?"
He handed me a cardboard with a sheet for signatures and time for arrival, I finished up and handed it back.
"So how come you deliver flowers, flower boy," I joked.
"And how come you're in pajamas at this time of the day, pajama girl," he teased back.
"Come inside and I'll tell you, don't want the flowers to get ruined now do we." I closed the door after him.
"You have a lovely yet oddly large house," he admired.
"Thanks."
"So how come you didn't to come today?" Alex inquired nervously almost as if he was didn't want to seem like he cared.
"I'm just a little sick, nothing big. I'll be back on Monday," I replied.
"Oh, okay"
"Yeah..." The awkward silence crept in faster than I thought. Maybe I should__
"I'm sorry for what Alexa said to you, whether it was right or wrong. She had no right to say what she said especially the way she way said it. And I'm so sorry for doing nothing. Dezmond wanted to come after you but I stopped him," he blurted keeping his gaze on me.
"Why did you stop stop him?" I whispered not breaking the eye contact. I didn't want to show how I felt but the fact that I was gripping the sink didn't help.
"I thought you needed space but what you really needed was a friend, a good listening friend to hear you and comfort you. I could have been that, Dezmond could have been that...but we btoh left you alone."
To say that he was blaming himself was an understatement, he was kinda hurting for something that wasn't his fault to begin with. I don't why but I really didn't like seeing him this way. He had lowered his head, ashamed of what had happened.
"Alex," I called, getting down to his level and lifting his head up so he could look at me directly, "I met a friend some days later so I'm not alone and you don't need to worry. And I have God too so I'll never be alone and I forgive you and Alexa for everything that happened. I'm also sorry for how I was in the entire thing. But if God always forgives us then who are we not to forgive ourselves. No more grudges or hard feelings okay?"
