You could have punched her if you wanted to, just saying," Ruth stated at the lunch table. The drama from the history lesson in the morning hadn't died down and Tisha was still shooting glares at me Because we won the motion."We won and that's the only thing that matters," I concluded.
"What was up with Alex telling you to look at him I mean, you guys even barely talk?" Yoshi inquired while he was trying to stuff his face with a slice of pizza.
"We actually talk and yesterday I went over to his place," I replied.
"We're still on for Ice cream today right?" Ruth asked.
"Yeah, Alex will carpool."
"See you after school I guess," Ruth smiled and left, leaving me with Yoshi and 30mins of lunchtime.
"So, Alex huh?" Yoshi teased.
"We're just going for ice cream and everyone else from the team will be there too," I laughed nervously.
"Alright, alright, just checking. If you ever need anything in that area though or if something happens, I'm the first one to know, good or bad. Especially bad."
"Why, are you my prince charming to always save me?" I smiled.
"No, but I'm your bestie who cares about you. A strong girl like you doesn't need a guy to keep her safe," he smiled back.
Did he really think I was strong? I mean emotional, yes and today morning can testify, but strong? Maybe strong in God if that's what he meant which reminds me, "Can you pick me up from my place for tomorrow night?"
"Right, we gotta go to our church group meeting," Yoshi said.
"Yeah, can you pick me up?"
"Why don't you ask Alex to pick you up?" he teased, "Alex can totally carpool, Me and Alex are gonna have ice cream with the team, Alex and I text because swapped numbers," Yoshi said sashaying his imaginary hair like a girl would.
"I do not sound like that and I definitely don't sashay or flick my hair like that," I laughed.
"Sure, you don't," he smiled, "I like seeing you smile," he continued breaking the train of laughter.
"What?"
"When you're happy, I'm happy and I always want to see you smile even when you can't, I want to be there for you." All the while Yoshi had been looking as if he was nervous but when he finished his sentence he was looking at me. He looked at me in a way that I hadn't been looked at in a while, a very long while.
"I wanna be there and there and take care of you even when I don't want to because you're my friend and that's what friends do for each other," he smiled at me and so were his eyes.
"Naaa, that's what real friends do for each other," I held Yoshi's hand and grinned back.
"Woow, Am I interrupting something?" Dez asked, joining us.
"Naaa, we're just friends trust me," Yoshi laughed.
"Btw, you did well this morning Dez," I said.
He winked back and smirked, "I had a good captain."
"So I was thinking__"
"Dezmond? What are you doing there? You sit with us remember," Of course Tisha just had to walk in and pass by our table of all tables.
"Yeah but Tia and Yoshi and are my friends too hence why I'm pretty sure I can sit with them if I want," he answered.
"Whatever, I thought I'd save you from sitting with people like her. We're meeting at my place after school_"
